18 Camso bearing failure 40 hours

Now you've peeked my curiosity. Can you post a pic of the failures, I'd like to see how and where they failed so I can watch mine. Thx

What’s the best way to upload these Picts on iPad? Through tap Talk? Website wants me to resize everything

Those sides crack pretty easy... 40 hours and my 11 year old rides it.

Those panels in all those pics are not the latest version. The 2019 panels have re-enforcements in all those areas where they used to crack. I'd be really surprised if the latest ones crack. The 17 panels cracked overnight it seemed, the 18 panels take about 40 hours then seem to start cracking, it really didn't have anything to do with how hard the kit was run. My understanding of how the development went is that the panels on the 2017 kit the bend radius was too tight, so they enlarged the bend radius for 2018. I think some 2018 kits got re-worked 2017 panels which didn't hold up hende more cracking. Even with the larger radius there was a problem and Camso recognizes that. I think the 2019 solution looks pretty stout and hopefully will put an end to that issue.

I cant get pics to work these days either, scroll down on the link below. Camso sent me a new panel like this for my 2018 kit. Its not a great pic they have up but the steel plates wrap around all the weak areas. The plate is about 1/8" thick. I weighed the old and new panels and the plates add 1/4 lb.

The first 3 photos I uploaded are most definitely the reinforced panels sent to me from camso, whether or not they are referred to as the “19” panel or not. They were reinforced and are different from the 18 panels.

Finally got a picture to upload, what a PITA these days. Anyways, there are 3 versions of the sides out there. Some very early purchase 18 kits had holdover 17 sides. In 17 where the chain adjustment is the plate was shorter and all the 90 degree bends were tight radius. Mid 2018 they re radiused the curves and made the chain adjustment plate longer but still thick. Version 3 is the 2019 version as in this pic, ignore my custom tunnel top. The plates now are thinner but wrap right around the problem areas. Same with the two front areas where they cracked they now have steel doublers . I just warrantied an 18 side a few weeks ago and this new version showed up only it was in silver, 2019 kits are black. If yours is cracked I would get on it before the warranty runs out, it should eliminate any further issues.

Camso is learning about stress risers the hard way. ?

It’s a huge priority in aircraft Sheetmetal work.
