Has anyone long tracked a assault.I am looking at buying a assault and want to install a 163.I am thinking of going with ice age rails and using the 5.1 poo track.
What are the pros and cons of straight rails compared to tipped up rails?
I know why would you long track a assault? I believe it is cheaper to buy a track and rails then shocks.

I am going to do the very same thing for next season, possibly even a 174"!! Straight rails are the way to go - they put the power to the snow a little better and help keep the front end down a little better. The other reason (other than shocks) that I went with the Assault is the slight increase front end width:face-icon-small-coo

Straight rails are good for some things...worse for others. Depends on what you wanna do with the sled and how you wanna ride it.

Steep and/or Deep (or big HP)..straight rails work better.
Jumps/Freestyle (*cough* Trail)..tipped-up rails should work better.

But if your considering 163+...I doubt jumps are your forte anyway.

And, as long as your not buying a NEW track, it should be cheaper.
However, a ~$1,000 track + $300(?) rails could get you some good shocks.

Not big into jumping. After a broken back life changes.I like a little tree riding, sidehilling just general riding in northern Idaho.I see a lot of take off tracks on here for $450 or less and rails for $350 .I need more flotation .

Buy a 163 RMK.. upgrade the shocks on the rear by Holz...

Sell the stock Front A-Arms and shocks and put that money towards a good set of aftermarket wide arms like the Z-bros.... You will be money and "headache" ahead.

Especially since you want to run the same track AND do not own the sled yet.

Track, Rails, cross bars, tunnel extension cost $$.... also you will have more cooler area with the 163 tunnel.

My 2 cents.

HOW MUCH LONGER IS THE TUNNEL ON A 163 IF THE TRACK IS ONLY 4 INCHES LONGER?
WHAT HAS TO BE ADDED TO THE RAILS.
AS FAR AS COOLING HOW MUCH DIFFERENTS CAN THEIR BE IN A 163 TO A 155?
AS FAR AS SHOCKS GO WHAT AM I GOING TO NOTICE BY GOING TO A DIFFERENT SHOCK?
I PLAN ON PICKING UP MY ASSAULT THIS SATURDAY IF ALL GOES WELL.WHO KNOWS I MIGHT JUST INSTALL A POWDER TRACK AND CALL IT GOOD.
IT IS STILL SNOWING
