Has anyone ran a 16 wide track on a 2005 King Cat 900efi? I have the stock track on now, its 15 wide but Im wanting to put a 16 wide on it, will that fit? Also I have HRP drop down bracket? Do I need to Change those? Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Wes

I am currently running that exact track and set up. The only change you have to make is to install larger bogie wheels on top. The tunnel handles the track just fine but the drop down brackets where the top of the rear shock attaches are too narrow to allow for the 16". Bigger bogies. The adjustment at the rear bogies will be tight but will work. It will be difficult to get the track loaded but it does fit. I didn't notice any handling penalty at all.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply. What size bogie wheels did you go to? I think the stock ones at 5.63". It looks pretty tight around the drop down brackets right now.
Thanks,
Wes

not sure where you are at, but call waldron arctic cat in issaquah, wa. talk to jeff he will get you the right wheels. 425 392 7833

Trouble getting track and Suspension back on.

I have this track on my cat as well. I noticed that people mentioned bigger upper bogie wheels. I couldnt help but notice that my upper bogie wheels (near the drop brackets) are tiny! They are basically the size of the shaft bearings, in fact I think they are the same thing!! :D

Im having a hell of a time getting the track/suspension back on, it was a PITA to get off in the first place. Should I be trying to get the front mounts in first and then the back? Or the back then the front? I tried both ways but couldnt get it to line up. Gonna try front first again tonight but this time sit the sled on its side like what the manual says to do (I think I just left it on a track stand last time)

If I cant get it on tonight ill take some pics.

162x16x2.5 on mine. Great track!! I also have the HRP brackets. HRP skid really makes this sled rock!

Front mounts first. And a lot of holding your tongue just the right way. If a skid is being ignorant, I usually unload it(torsion springs, sometimes even the main shock itself)
But usually it takes two guys, or one real pissed off man on a mission. In all the years I've swapped skids back and forth......one in ten times it goes smoothly and hassle free. Good luck!

I think you must have the SJ drop brackets on your's, the early production on them had sealed bearings instead of wheels. With them on you can run a 16 wide and clear everything. Later he put a 3 3/4" wheel on instead of the bearings. The skid is easy to put in. bolt the front arms in, have the tail of the sled inched up high, put a 4x4 block under the track at the front shock mount now lower the tunnel down until the rear brackets alighn. You may have to run a screw drive in the hole to act as a drift but it should go pretty good. If that fails you will need to slip the springs off the peg and get stuff together. Be carefull the rear lower mount is not flipped over, they always do!

Thanks for the tips, yeah I tried all sorts of combinations of jacking the back up high, down low, tight track, loose track. Was always half an inch off. Next step was to un bolt those torsion springs. Front shock is loose as well but that didnt seem to make much difference. Ill try Diggerdown's method and if I cant get it on ill unbolt those sprigns. They look easier to bend back into place than trying to move the whole skid and poke a bolt through at the same time. Would be a lot easier if someone would help me!! No one home last night, hopefully someone is around the house tonight. :face-icon-small-ton

Ratchet Tie Downs - Why didnt I think of this 3 nights ago!

use ratchet tie downs to pull back arm down then that gives you more slack in track. this is the way i do it and makes it way easier

The ratchet tie downs work perfect. I have done it a couple times. My king has the 16 wide track and works awesome.

Haha, thats what I did last night!! So much easier, hooked one end onto the drop bracket and the other to the front suspension and it went on piece of piss!!

Chain is back on now as well (very productive night for me), Just gotta get some gear oil, fuel and put the exhaust back on and I might fire her up tonight after work!!

Might even take her out for a test run this week!

I am installing a 159 16 on my 03 and the rail extensions from trax usa are too long so I need some drop brackets if anyone has any sugestions. I tried Wild child, CR Racing ,Mountain Magic, and Sledjunky's.
