16" or 15"??? Is this true???

Also posted on mountain/deep powder.....

I was heard through the grape vine that some dudes are switching from the 16" wide to the 15" wide track for more track speed on the doo's. I guess the reason for this is to get more air through the tunnel.

I just bought a new track and I think camo did somthing a little clever. The track is still 16" wide but the paddles are inset a half inch on each side. So the track is still 16" wide but the paddles are like a 15" wide track. I think this might solve that so called problem of the air restriction in the tunnel. My old track did not have this. The paddles were right to the outside of the track. Unless they did this to prevent from rubbing on the bolts on the inside.

Oh, the track is 9103 163x2.5x16x2.86 pitch for an XP.

Let me know what you think....

I had more confidence in my 07 xrs. I traded my 08X for an 09X.
I spent some time a my buddys dragon, you can toss it all day by moving your head from side to side. Maybe a touch to easy.

Not sure if the center of gravity is to low or what.
The dragons are not even close in the floataion or climbing but it is easier to ride.

I though I was alone on this until I read the latest snowest mag.

I was thinking a 15x2.5 camo extreme with a two wheel kit would maybe help.

If I was worried about the XP being Nimble, I would go for the 2 wheel kit before paying for a smaller track that hinders the performance. I think some one is getting a smaller track 'cause they can't ride and are blowing smoke.

I think the 16" wide track helps ALOT in the powder. The polaris is easier to ride on hard pack, but does not do nearly as well in the deep. Comparing a 154xp to a 155 dragon.
Pulling the sway bar off helped a bit on the xp and the two wheel kit helped alot more. Handles good now. I would never go back to a 15" track on a sled that accepts a 16" track. I wish I could of put a 16" track on my m8.
