155' 3" Vs 155 2.75" vs 165 2.75 2022

I ride in Utah and western Wyoming and very selective on snow conditions ( mainly ride during and right after storms). We really don't ride spring conditions and boondock mostly. I am 190 lbs 52yrs old currently on a 2016 163 2.6 pump gas 800 Turbo. Rode my buddies 21 850 165 2.75 Khaos and fell in love.
I am looking at getting a 22 matryx 850 NA. I am thinking of going to the 155 but really don't know between 2.75" vs 3". I owned a 14 pro 155 and loved it! I haven't completely written off the idea of 165 2.75". I guess i want whatever is going to be the funnest and easiest to ride in the trees and meadows. I'm 52 and things are changing for me with strength and stamina.
Thanks

I went to a 155 2.75 with qd2 last year after riding 163 's for years and I absolutely loved it. more playful than the 163. May be it is just me, but when you do get stuck the 155 seems to dig out easier than the 163

My 2 cents, keep the 16 and the turbo, modify the rear suspension to get more Khaos transfer, install the track of your choice for WY/UT powder.

Definitely run a two sled system. Supply chain issues may knock you out of sledding while waiting for parts

If you liked your buddies 21’ 850, you’ll like the 22’ even more. The matryx 850 runs stronger than the axys 850. It would be nice for you to get the matryx khaos 155 and keep your 16’ turbo. I’m pretty sure once you ride the NA matryx, you don’t be interested in the 16’ anymore thought. It’s a toss up on tracks, bet the QD2 for sure. Personally I’d get the 2.75

I think the 165 khaos geometry is the best option for guys wanting the forgiving float of the 160 length tracks but still fun and float the skis. Especially if your more deep snow selective. 165 rmk is not a very 'fun' sled. But damn they are capable

I purely ride the 155 length sleds but on the deeper days the 165s are hard to beat.

Also 2.75 over 3in in all regards. Polaris 3in track is too stiff and trenches pretty bad. The 2.75 works a LOT better in judt about every terrain we've had them in fron WY to BC.

165 2.75 is an incredible weapon for deep snow. It's a directional sled, and that's how I ride.

If your priority is going places over doing tricks and cool kid stuff, get the 165 850.

Ancient!

I was just making a recommendation to a 52yo guy who rides in fresh snow and liked this track length in the Khaos.
I'm 53 and still like to do kid things. 155 for me. Once in a while my body doesn't like kid things but not willing to quit

I’m 55, and act like a kid most of the time.
However, I probably should not be on a 155 Khaos 9R this year….but I will love it until I am stuck or can’t follow my 163/165 brothers up high in the trees!!!!
I think the 165 Khaos (2.75) is the Swiss Army knife for +50 guy (190lbs+)
Unfortunately for me there were none available for purchase….?

Thanks for all the input you guys. I'm leaning towards the 165. Maybe I should try to ride a 155. No one in our group runs 155 so I probably would be better off longer.

Got 165 9r but trading for 155

A perfect world would be one of each track length!
165 boost
155 9r
146 9r

The new matryx tends to be a little nose heavier than its axys variant. Not sure if it changes your mind. My 165 pro matryx was super nose heavy and i kinda wish i got a khaos 165. Its wild where itll go but kinda takes the fun out of stuff haha

I had a Khaos 163. Awesome sled no complaints. I Decided to go back to a 155 rmk and I love this sled just as much. 160s are great sleds, but I have more energy at the end of the day on the 155. 2.75 track works great

you can go 155 and if it doesn't work out you can always change it to a 165. That's was my plan if needed, plus when going to 165 you won't have to cut down the tunnel, like everyone is doing;)
