'15 Belt Drive vs Chaincase?

Hey Guys,

Looks the belt drives have been solid this past year? I would really like to go with the belt drive but wondering if I should go with the sure thing in the chaincase?

I ride in the UP of MI with a mix of trail, off trail and boondocking. Not a lot of steep climbs, but sled will see about 1000-1500 miles.

Should I be concerned if I go with the PRO and run the belt drive?

Is there a noticeable difference in the handling/weight savings of a belt drive over the chaincase?

Any input appreciated before I submit my order on Monday!

I put 400 miles on my 14 pro with a 156 3" and never had any issues. I did take it easy and broke the belt in at home for about 60-70 miles.

I recommend the chaincase std RMK, the extra cooling will be worth it for your on trail riding. There are several aftermarket Belt drive options with idler and gearing options for about the same difference in cost. Jmo

I have to go with polster on this one.
If you are into trail riding and, off trail riding in our flat lands, yes RMK.
We had two 2011 Pros and, now we have one 2013 and, one 2014. So if you do a lot of drops the chain case is better than the 2013. I thought I read somewhere that the 2014 belt is 30% more durable than the 2013. Not sure about the 2015.
I feel the belt drive is better in the mountains and in deep snow around here. I will say I am very impressed with the Pro out west. But it's not a good trail sled. $.02
All said and done, I think the chain case overall is more durable, at least for now.

If you are going to trail ride standard RMK all the way, the front cooler is worth it. I do a small amount of trail riding, pretty much all U.P. boondocking in the trees and went with the standard RMK.

Get the front cooler, belt is no advantage where you ride. Cooler will be on those -20F mornings with hardpack and scratchers.

I agree with what has been said. For midwest riding the chaincase and extra cooler are going to be better. Ditching that wieght and driveline inertia is a great thing for powder sleds though. I do not think the belt likes sustained high speed running either, not ideal for the midwest in my experience. The standard RMK would probably be the smart choice for your riding.
