14:1 head - what octane at what elevation?

14:1

I have an 05 Rev with a 14:1 RKT head. Most of our snoparks are around 2000 feet and then we ride to 5000-6000 here in washington. I have killed a few motors due to pistons locating pins falling out from detonation. Too high of compressions and not running enough octane I am sure is the culprit.

Each make of head is different Dome design, squish...blah blah blah... Anyways, my point is I tried to baby mine down low and it still blew. 1 motor with 1200 miles on it and the other with 2400...

You need to run enough octane or eventually you will go down.... cheap insurance... If AV gas or race fuel is considered cheap...

I run 80/20 with my 14:3 enginetech head at sealevel, had no problem. Had to mix about 90/10 when low on gas out riding and got some deto warning so I´m bout right on with 80/20. When running my other domes that are 13:5 I dont mix, just straight pump gas. All sealevel height.

I was thinking of going with a BB for next year along with a 30 shot, what kind of fuel is a guy probably looking at? riding moastley revy and golden.
