1100 turbo complaint

weight is everything, loved my lightened apex, just took 3 times the effort to do stuff as my pro, I like the idea of the cat 1000t, just need it around 450lbs.

The 2012 M8's are 150+ lbs lighter than the 1100T. Yes, each has the same frame and suspension, but trying to throw and extra 150 lbs of counterbalance up a hill just isn't a natural movement. I don't care how much power you have to push it with. I have a 160lb friend that rides a supercharged Apex like its an M8, but those don't have the aggressive forward stance that these new one's have. I went riding with waitemr4 on his first ride and it took 3 guys to even budge the sled out of a stuck with all the snow dug out of it. Great looking, sounding and powerful snowmobile....but with all that weight positioned in one area it is a b*tch maneuver. waitemr is a very good rider also.

Lots of hours on an Apex, not as many on the 1100 and my opinion is the Apex was far, far more freindly and easier to carve and sidehill than this Cat, and I'm 6.6 and 1/2 and 211 lbs, LOL, so thats not the problem. The Apex was a hoot in the fluff, but when the snow got harder the effort required increased dramatically, I think this trait will be similar. The stock power of this Cat is awesome, smooth hardly any lag, but the steering is weird and the weight is reeeaaalllyy evident. I'm sure guys 'll be fine tuning and making em work better but for the smaller guys who like to do lots other than climbing, its gonna be a workout. Great sled tho and its cool AC is going in this direction.

my 120lb wife had her new 800 on its side and side hilling like i've never seen her before, her previous sled was a 09 m8, not sure what needs to be changed for you guys, but she was so excited how easy the new 800 is to get up and hold a sidehill compared to the old m8.
one thing i noticed is she has to stand with her foot further back on the running board, to get it up on one side.
she was a side hilling master the other day.
snow was not that deep either, i was surprised she was so comfortable on it already.

They do sidehill easy, until you put it on a steep azz slope, My b1tching will only come into play for a small percentage of riders that go beyond the norm.

Something the '12 wont do without mods is hang on a slope like this.

Ready to ride the 1100T is only 100lbs more not 150+lbs, spend $500 to get an easy 30lbs of the 1100T getting with in 70lbs of a stock M8 pretty awesome in my books

i have decided to first try the vert. steering kit and then if its still difficult to side hill ill try the 38 inch a-arm kit set up on the 39 inch.. i shaved weight already by going to the straight pipe and i'm pretty sure my wife ordered a new battery for x-mas.. as bakerider was saying the sled runs awesome until you get stuck...lol oh wow it sucked.. also it was only $20 to shave off about 15lbs

I was assuming aftermarket pipe/can setup on the M8 since you are limited on the 1100T. What exactly would you purchase for $500 that sheds 30lbs? Don't get me wrong, I am itching to get into a 4 stroke, just wish these things would be more applicable to aggressive riding styles...:face-icon-small-hap

I will gladly fix the problem for you. I have 6000 in cash. I will come pick it up from you and you can go buy a new m8. That will solve your dilema and mine too:)

Not trying to be a dick but what aftermarket pipe/can can you buy for the M8 that drops 50lbs, making the gap between the m8 and m11 150lbs?

As for $500 for 30lbs, your riding partner (waitemr4) just posted that $20 dropped 15lbs by fabricating your own straight pipe. I'm thinking you could drop another 15 lbs for $480 pretty easily. $180 buys a lightweight lithium ion battery that drops around 10lbs.

yea here you go... $20 for a home made straight pipe $375 if you want the big dog barker $180 for light weight bat. so i would say sp and bat is weight savings of 30lbs for $200 which leaves $300 for what....20 lbs lost for $300 and i dont see that happening..and $555 if you did the bat and bd barker and thats dropping about 25 lbs...:face-icon-small-con:face-icon-small-con:face-icon-small-con:face-icon-small-dis maybe my math is a$$ backwards but that what i figured

Apex easier to handle?

I rode a lightweight TApex for 4 years. I weighted it yesterday before I loaded it to the guy buying it. I had battery, hood, a-arms, tunnel, skid, bar, and seat done, about 8 grand in lightweight parts. It was 688 rtr, didn't feel like it at 300+hp. The stock Cat is 671 rtr, 28lbs gone in battery and can, let alone a straight pipe, for $600? Um...yes please. Another $600 and change in a box that will get me 230ish....said it since March, great effort by Cat on a first year 4s sled. And I was a Yami guy.

As far as handling I couldn't disagree more but that is jmo. I've rode as much as anyone on the new 1100t and I find it way easier.:face-icon-small-coo

Weighted a M8 162 SP rtr at 565lbs.

lol im looking at the hcr m8 today... im kinda kicking my self.. as of right now i think i might have goten in over my head.. but im sure ill figure something out.. im going to play with the suspension some more today and see what i can figure out..

I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. There are going to be a bunch that are going to wish they went with the m8. You just aren't used to it yet. It should be easy to sidehill. It would help a bunch if the skis turned sharper. The 38 inch stance will be a big difference for most people but I do believe it will make really steep sidehills worse. I do like the wide boards but that is a drawback on some stuff with the combination of them and the body. As far as the steering, I know the vertical is better but I never had trouble sidehilling my t- nytro and it had the same steering. These sleds aren't going to be the big tree sled everyone thought they would be. You have to be more concious of the terrain, in front of you, so you don't lose the front down hill. They will change the way you ride. Your not having fun if you don't get stuck. I could ride around all year, and not get stuck but your not having fun and not pushing yourself. After you get these things stuck a few times it will talk you out of some lines in the trees that you would have went for on the 800. In some ways they will be more forgiving and in others they will be less in the trees. My nytro was 240hp. The deeper and steeper it was the more fun it was. The less snow there was the less fun it was. These sleds aren't 150 heavier than the 800 but in the right circumstances they are going to feel 200 pounds heavier. Keep after it. You can do all the same stuff you can on the 800 but if you can do it all day is another question.

I've had the pig out twice so far and have had no problems at all! If the vert post makes it better then that's great, but I've moved the skis in and played around with shock psi and last weekend my buddy was behind me while I sidehilled that bit$& about 1/4 of ah mile!!! The only problem I have with the sleds weight is that I can't ride it on 1 ski down the road, but other then that I completely love this thing... I had it on the hill and there were 2 guys fighting and sidehilling on 2 mod m7's to make it over the top and they both were shaking there heads when I blew over the top just feathering the throttle! This sled I completely amazing!!!! 
