11 pro running horrible... Help needed

So my buddies sled is having some real issues, sled has only 5-600 miles on it and bone stock.

Sled is running the premium plug... and he went threw every plug in the group and pulled a CDI from another sled to test that and no change.

Only other issue with the sled is the thumb warmer stoped working

So the sled started with a bit of a bog around 5,000 and has developed into general pour performance. It feels like it's loaded up or extremely rich, when it started it would run pretty good on top but now it pretty much falls on it's face.

Lights and gauges working fine.

Sounds like an electrical issue. Something is grounding out somewhere. The 11's had a few wiring glitches.

I will ask about oil cunsumption, but that makes me recall that he has had the oil light come a few times ovee the last few rides ( of course the oil level was fine as he tops it every ride )

Ok, now I'll tell you why I asked. Here is what my sled did and since have heard of others. Mine acted much as you described. I also was going through a ton of oil. Something wasnt right there. Took it to the dealer and said there was nothing wrong with the oil system. BS Not using as much as I was. Finally it plugged my eshaust valves and the selenoid that operates them.

Look down at the arm coming off of the oil pump. It should be pointed to the mag side of the motor at idle. Pointed more or less straight up at full throttle. Mine somehow managed to flip over the top so at idle it was pointed at the clutch (pto) side of the motor. So basically it was at wot oil setting at an idle. You can reach in there with your hand, hold wot with one hand and force the lever back over the top where it belongs with the other. Mine has only done this that one time. Sled ran great once I flipped it back where it belongs, all the smoking and bogging went away and now have oil comsumption back where it belongs :face-icon-small-coo

I just talked to him and he said no noticable oil consumption... I will still have him look at the oil pump lever just to be sure. I did not notice any smoking either.

My 11 was running just like you described. I had been riding a bunch of powder (finally) and it was acting like it was iced up. Low/mid range sputter and bog, then the top end ran fine, pulling 8100 at the top of some pulls. So I thought it was just iced up with all the cold snow (everything else on me was iced up). I put it in the garage with a heater pointed at it for a few hours, got it all dried out. Took it out today, same problem, maybe worse. Then I was doing a climb through some trees and heard a terrible noise, and thought my engine went. Took a look and my PTO side spark plug shot out, it must have been loose and only been a few threads in on the head. Put a new plug in it and now it's back to running like a raped ape. I've never heard of this happening before, but its something to check.

have the injectors been replaced? This is common with the original 11 injectors. They will be changed out 2 a new style with a new harness. They often run pig rich when they fail.

Mine was injectors, some are low voltage from the stator all give the same symptoms. Good luck hope you get this sorted out.

Nope, it has not been to the dealer since it was picked up at the start of last season.

There are some wire and oil line routing updates to be done so it would be a good idea to take it in.

If you feel like looking for yourself one of the wiring issues in under the consol where the hand warmer, headlight and mode switches are. Some of the wires weren't tied back enough and rub on the chassi and short out.

Check throttle tension and TPS. My sled was doing the same thing intermittently for a few different rides and I finally got the check engine light to come on.

Dealer computer code showed a "throttle stuck error" and the sled was intentionally limping for safety reasons. Everything was adjusted back to spec and I've had no problems since.

Throttles on the Pro's are finicky and can fool you into thinking it's something else, but it's essential this area be checked out.

Good luck!

This!

Looks like I'm due for some new injectors too - starts with a low to mid range "drone" because the injectors don't close enough so the sled runs rich and loses it's "snap" up to about 6,000 rpm. Starts bogging when hammering on the throttle and gets worse as the day progresses. Ethanol plug works far better than the non-ethanol plug because you cut back the fuel 5%; telltale sign.

Have FUN!

Have a 2012 doing exactly this, and dealer does not seem to know what the cause is. Keep blaming the tps, but changed it twice now and still running like poo, takes around 30-45 minutes after each dry out to start acting up. Sounds like a carbed sled that has been flooded and has no power. Gets worse the longer i ride.

I vented my panels for cooling and I think my clutches are sucking in snow dust through screens and my TPS sensor keeps getting water trapped in the top of the sensor where the cable plugs in. It will cause irratic idol and running issues until I pull plug and dry out the sensor. Going back to panels with out vents now.

This is a classic "throttle stuck" error, just not enough to make the check engine light come on.

Your sled is limping because it thinks there's a possible safety problem developing.

Get the throttle checked and adjust tension, particularly if you have a lefty throttle!

One of the very few reasons a spark plug comes loose is detination or not tight at install; sled needs to be put on the computor

We have had problems with the ground at the front bumper, taillight wire grounding out, moisture in the TPS plug, and a bad TPS.
A variety of symptoms....no reverse, low and midrange bogs, high idle, inconsistant performance.
First thing I would do is dry out all the connectors and put electrical grease in them....and the TPS connector and Ohm check the TPS.

My sled is at the dealers now with the same problems, have all ready put on a new tps did not help, they are checking everything now, wires, injectors, stater, valves, egt, hope to know something today, will let everyone know what we find.
