Don't know if if you'll get a straight answer but i've been running 10 lbs on my m8 for about 700 miles. No issues whatsoever, no signs of detonation on my pistons, no deto codes. The lowest I run elevation wise is 7000 feet and have a water / air IC which lowers charge temps and reduces the probability of deto. If I needed it, i'd crank it up to 12 but 10 is plenty for me.

I ride 7500' to 9500', Straight 100LL and 12 lbs. I do have a intercooler, not a water to air, just a regular one, charge temps are about 160.

We run 100ll in lots of our turbos and up to 12 lbs on a bigbore M8 (900), I run up to 8lbs on my 1200 and 10 on my 1000 turbo and all these have no intercooler and run between 4500 and 8000 feet.

i was hoping to hear that 11- 12 #s wasnt unrealistic, thanks for the replies guys

I would plan on getting some headwork done if you want to run 12 lbs on straight av gas all the time. That is really pushing it with the stock head. head work is cheap though. (alot cheaper than a motor)

Running 10 pounds at 2400 feet with some head work

Squish band opened to 0.080

Compression knocked back half a point

i dont plan on runing that high all the time, 8#s is plenty for where i usually ride but this weekend ill be in revy so i want to turn it up a little more

what type of head work would i need to get done for around 5-7000ft?

I sent mine to Brent Linderman and had him recut it for lower compression. you can talk to him about different profiles and what you want to do.
it was pretty cheap to. less than 200 bucks
good luck

Are you running 10lb on your 1000 with head work or without? I have an 08 1000 and the head has been done .022. I can get 100LL for aroun 4$ a gallon so I am thinking about running the 100LL right now I am running 50/50 110/super on 7 to 9 LB.

I was running race for part of the season but it is too much loot. I started mixing a 50/50 mix of 100ll and premium(91 oct) at 10 lbs up to 7000 ft and it seems to be working good. 12 lbs is more fun, but race fuel is way too much money up here.

100 % AV I am seeing 12lbs with an intercooler 6000ft and above. Without the intercooler 10lbs but the charge temps get pretty dang hot on a long pull.

How do you guys measure your charge temps...keep hearing about it, are you just estimating?
