I ride a 2005 RT1000 converted from a 151 track to a 144...I love the machine...with a few lightening mods to it the you dont notice the weight at all...like anything you just have to get used to it...
nothing tho compares to the torques these babies have when they are setup right with clutching...
with any sled there is a few things to do and maintenance...
the main thing with these sled are:
-add uni filters to the air box...(stop the belt dust from getting into the air box and damaging your engine) they run around $35 shipped to canada for both...
-add a fuel pressure gauge so you know when your low pressure fuel pump is going to give out on you...(this will stop a melt down as well, or could) you can get a kit from skidoo'junky on dootalk.
- add a 2008 thermostat to the engine...(makes the engine run warming which will help prevent a cold seizure) all items need to install and thermostat will run around $50.
- Do regular maintenance on it...(clean the ERAVES every 1000 miles or so..it is easy to do...you will need a $10 gasket everytime you clean them)
- Make sure all the updates are done..(call your dealer and give them the VIN number they should be able to tell you what has been done.)
- Make sure the battery is over 12.8 volts to run the sled properly..if it needs to be replaced no big deal they run around $30 from napa...
those are most of the issues with the 1000's....it might sound like alot but keep in mind every sled has their own problems and maintenance. the 2007 800s are having problems with heating issues as well and alot are installing the 08 thermostat and looking at how it is done..it is a Pain in the arse compared to doing the 1000...
but if you have any questions or problems they are usually pretty small...you can ask on here or on dootalk there is alot of guys that will help you out...
Good luck and you wont be sorry with your purchase..
Make sure you get a Dynamo Joe clutch kit before any other mods...makes the sled perform amazing..
