'10 M8 Snow Flap!

Anyone come up with something to do with the Tunnel Snow Flap (Mud flap hanging off the back!)? That has to be the ugliest part of the new M's. Would a person loose some cooling if that was trimmed up a little, removed or replaced? Bad part is that it looks like its part of the rear light as well!

I just cut mine, works great

I thought that at first, but kind of like the long flap now.

Only issue is when you back up and it gets pulled under. The structural 'tabs' on the inside of the flap get bent and then the flap sags. I just tied a strap from the bumper to the hump in the upper middle of the flap to hold it up. A trick from the old days ...

Or, if you're not too concerned about throwing chunks out the back end, cut it.

does the engine still get enough cooling in the tunnel when you cut it short????

running a turbo and I clipped mine off like the one in the photo above. works just fine no overheating issues.

The flap has delineations across it that would be a perfect line for trimming. I plan to trim the bottom section off mine.

Yep thats what i did last year, the trimmed one works much better for when you get stuck too... er wait i never get stuck! ;)

X3. Way better.

I do wish it were seperate from the tail light though. They you could just take it off.

Whats the cleanest method of cutting it? I have thought about it but didnt want to to look like crap when it was done.

I left mine like the pic above & it eventually failed from being run over (I have a sled deck though) the turbo I cut one line above where that one is cut with a razor, no heat problems, even on borderline frozen spring mornings & the flap doesn't get run over at all.

Btw, a razor is easy & looks good, just cut it right at the line & it turns out great.

Don't any of you guys that shortened the flaps catch some crap from people riding behind you? I put a PC on my older M last year and my riding group made me always ride at the end of the line on the trip from the parking lot to the hill and back. Nobody wanted to deal with the rooster tail the Powerclaw threw up. I was thinking about going to a longer, soft flap this year.

Just throwing this out there, but Arctic Cat makes a shorter flap that you can buy without cutting.

:)

Done for now!

Cut the flap, blacked out the white letters, removed all decals! Setting next to my M7. That flap is EASY to cut with a razor! A couple of the big decals on the side panels weren't on very good! Be careful if you want to keep them!

Cut it off like BRAP12 and it works just fine. Did not overheat until a hot days spring ride. Throws snow like a S O B but not too much worse than normal.
