09 XP problem

Anyone seen any issues with the chaincase on the xp. My buddy bought a new 09 and while we were up at togwotee on friday the chaincase started to make a slipping noise. The sled has a whole 70 miles on it and barely made it off the hill. By the time we got back to the truck the thing would barely make it up a small hill, it was slipping like crazy. Any suggestion. This thing also had the pull rope issue on the first ride out. Two rides on the new sled and bad luck both times. I hope this is not sign of whats to come. He had great luck with his 06 skidoo but is livid with this thing.

I broke (2) chains on my 08 xp. first one was warrantied, second one they said tough luck!

Chain Case

Pull the cover off and inspect the chain. A slipping chain is almost unheard of. Most of the time the chain will grenade. I would have to guess something like what Blu Du mentioned. A track slipping on the drivers would be a better possibility. But just like i said remove the cover and you'll be able to see for yourself whats going on. If for some reason it was slipping it will be very obvious. There will be metal shavings everywhere. Good Luck..

Ahh the chain is loose!!! this happened to my buddies 09 the nut wasn't tight and loosened the chain and was causing the sprocket to slip, he just tightened it back up and no more issues, I would pull off the cover and inspect for damage which I expect there is.

The chain tension is adjustable, needs to be tightened after the first ride.
Sure it was the chain and not the track?

if that was the chain and slipping the way he discribed. wouldn't you say he should get new chain and sprockets.

Guaranteed it is not the track, we checked tension and it was tight. We went a little tighter with the track on the hill and still slipped like crazy. Will take it into the dealer this week to have it fixed.
