09 M8 vs 10 M8

Stock to stock there is absolutely no comparison. It all depends on what you want. If you want to spend a bunch of money on aftermarket parts, void your warranty, get nothing out of the extras in trade, and fuss with tuning until you get it perfect just to be as good as a stock '10. If you want to pull and go, get a 2 year warranty, and have a stocker that flat out rips and eats stock m1000's on the hill, buy the '10. Buy the '10, put a can on it and ride it! $9,600 bucks for a new '10 M8 std right now at my dealer.

Being the sap that i am, I have been kicking this one around too. 1 day I think M1000, onother I think 09 M8 and another I think 2010 M8. But I am traditionally a Poo guy...and that new Pro looks perty dam gud. 9.6 looks a helluva lot better than 12? for a new Poo that probably wont run any better than the previous 3, but what the HELL do I know

I have a 2010 m8 with 850 miles on it and it runs great. Had a hill climb against a 2007 and 2008 m8 they made it a third of the way up and had to turn out and my 2010 climbed all the way to the top. We switched sleds and same results. You wont be disapointed with the 2010

I agree. My 2010 M8 will whip my stock 08 M1000 with a diet, and will take my buddy's 08 M1000 with a Y pipe and can. It outperforms my m1 in every single situation. An 09 M1 or a well tuned M1 I can't say... but to me, having a stock sled that is light and completely rips and is dependable is all that matters.

My 2009 M8 with the slp performance package just rips and has had zero issues. I ride 6-10K and had slp set up the clutching for 8-10k. I hit 8100rpm while climbing at 8500ft and I am very impressed with the sled. I ran just the slp pipe for most of last year and the sled ran great but the porting, head mod, and PC3 made it a totally different sled. I have yet to ride a 2010 M8 but from what slp said if the 2010 is piped they are close with the ported 09 beating it by a little bit. My ported 09 M8 has been pull and go, I have not messed with the PC3 once. There clutching was also spot on for my sled. I rode a stock 09 HCR awhile back and it felt like a slug compared to mine.

i would have to say the 10 m8 is the way to go.my 10 m1000 wellout climb the 53 m8 . but the m8 is20lbs lighter and you do feel it.i have seen a 10 hcr outclimb everything in wet pow.even a turboed nytro.

If it outclimbed the turbo nytro than something was wrong with the nytro. I ride a ported 09 M8 that I love but last weekend we saw a group that had a turbo'd 10 M8 and a turbo'd nytro and the Nytro would walk all over it. I have never seen a more impressive sled than the turbo'd yammies. There is no way a 160 hp sled will keep up with a turbod sled unless it is running like crap and this comes from a big cat fan.

tracks

you are right.but it had a stock track and only10lbs of boost.and the snow was 3feet of wet mush and the 153 pc 90der did things that day that were unreal. i have worked on and ridin alot of turbos and yes the yames are the best bet for big long pulls.i rode one the other day and was glad to jump back on the my m1000.

09 vs 10 M8

I OWN BOTH 153 SNOPROS , BOTH BOONDOCKER TURBO SETUPS. 09 WILL RUN HIGHER BOOST NUMBERS SAFELY ,ABOUT 8PSI COMPARED TO 6.5 ON THE 10,DUE TO THE DIFFERENCE IN ENGINE PORTING. I HAVE A BOONDOCKER PIPE ON THE 09. THE ARE VERY CLOSE AS FAR AS PERFORMANCE BUT THE 10 HAS MORE LOW END POWER BY FAR. IF YOU WERE MOVING AT ABOUT 20 MPH AND RACED THEM THEY WOULD BE DEAD EVEN.THEY BOTH REALLY CLIMB WELL AND PERFORM WELL. 10 JUST HAS A LOT MORE LOW END POWER.

the only 09 m8 thats been able to get higher then me. has been one with over 3000$ into it....saying that hes already done 4 belts, and a top end this season.....and ill i did was a 300$ can, and i got 4 years of warranty (two with cat, two with finance)

My ported 09 M8 has been as reliable as it was when it was stock. Not saying the 10 M8 is not as good but I do not want people to think the ported 09's are unreliable because they are not in any way. From what slp said the 10 cylinders look like there ported 09's so the longevity is not an issue when set up right. I am sure the 10 has better throttle response than my 09 because of the lighter crank but I still bet the topend power is very similiar as mine runs very strong with the work I have done. I have 2K total in my 09 to get close to 170hp. It has been nothing but pull and go.

2010m1000 sp

I have heard the 2010 m1000 sp runs real hard and was mentioned lightly in one of the above replys. Any one able to run it against the 2010 m8 hcr or regular 800? :face-icon-small-ton

I have the 2010 m8. I can get the 1000 out of the hole but once the 1000 gets wound up he goes right on by. same thing in a long steep climb half way up the hill the 1000 will pass me like a morman going on a mission.

m1000

on the deepest days they a almost the same.but the track speed on the m1 is abit fast with the 60/60gearing.just working tuning in one with twin cutlers;bdx box.at fuel controler.taking that out tomorrow .can't wait to see if i well hag with the pgturbo m8.should be close.

I spent a considerable amount of time quizzing the SLP boys about the two sleds. They said that their 09 with the perf package will run circles around the 10 with a pipe. I am so tempted to get an 09 and try it out with the perf package..... but then I realize that i am a construction worker out of work... and then I just keep dreamin.

not alone

8150-8200 with 68 grm weights at 9000 ft track speed on a long hard climb 39 mpr.162 track and I weigh 230 lbs sled is stock. The 1000 is cluched well also and has a 162 track I can ride the 1000 up the same hill and have 45 mpr track speed. I have owned A 07 1000 and the 2010 800 and if the 1000 is cluched right and both are stock any buddy that tells you they can beat the 1000 with their 800 in a long pull up a hill must be smoken crack.
