our buddy bought a m8 162 and we rode today in the horns and that baby goes--doesnt carry a lot of track speed[37 mph] but it gets on the snow and showed all our 154 doo's how to climb--it just keeps going like the energizer bunny well except when you need the doo bottom end;) power, you have to think a little more ahead when riding it because it does not have the throttle response of the doo--but it whipped on us all day

here is 1 hill and the m8 was the only one to go out on the first try

all in all we were pretty impressed by the cat:eek:did i really say that:confused:
wish we had a 163 doo or a 153 cat to compare, i bet the cat holds its own from what i saw today--great day of riding with friends

Beauty pics T/A. Gotta love a nice smooth hill and bluebird skies! Happy to hear you had a Cat to play with as well, sounds like a pretty fair comparo too which i like! Tracks footprint should be bang on as well, that 16" makes up for the length i was always told.

i still think the length makes the difference--wish the doo's were still 159--best track length for me--i also think cat has got i heck of a track and suspension in the 09's

Nice pics

Always nice to get some blue sky days in January

Good to hear a positive report on the Cat.

I'm interested to see how the Cats fare in the Snowest Deep Powder Challenge. They got their butts kicked last year.

were any of those xp's modded?

2 Stock,2 with Heads and SLP Pipe, didn't matter.......... there was no base and track length ruled.Spent some time on the M8,reminded me of my M7 but with much more grunt.Rolls over on one ski alittle easier than my Doo(probably because of not having a swaybar) but feels a tick heavier on the skis than the XP's.Overall a nice sled and goes real good, prefer my Doo and quick throttle, the M8 would easily be my second choice and is miles ahead of the 07 M8 we rented a few times.

WyomingT/A here in Island park for the week its exacty what we are seeing the new power claw is by far a big advantage!!!! Big adavntage for the cats,. Put one on my 2007 sno-pro M1000 with the BDX tunnel/bumper mod made a huge difference. Cat has it figured for 2009. Our day was a sober event as we watched the the avy death on Jefferson. sad deal. Thought and prayers!!!!

My 09 M8 with a 162 and slp pipe will turn 45mph track speed at 9000ft in a hard climb in soft snow. I climbed against 4 xp's 3 weeks ago in real soft snow and I outclimbed every one of them and two of them were 163's. My buddies XP did the second best and it has the 154, I was not impressed with the 163's. If your buddy wants to make that 09 M8 even better than install the slp pipe and he will really like it. It makes the midrange and topend much stronger. My buddy on his 09 xp and my cat are neck and neck in a race with mine finally taking him when we are wide open by a tiny bit.
