09 M1000- Gas Pig?

I just switched from an 07 M8 to a new 09 m1000. It now has about 350 miles on it. Last ride I ran out of gas at exactly 50 miles while another 09 1000 finished the ride (about 60 miles total) while towing out a dragon for the last 15 miles.

Does cat have anything built into the computer for break in? Is this possibly normal mileage for fairly hard riding (25% trail the rest 12" TO 18" fresh)? The only difference between our sleds is that mine is stock and the other has a can and the weights changed to the recommended for our elevation.

yep

we always carry 2-2 1/2 gallons of fuel on the heavy days. i always carry extra thanks mountain addiction. yep mines stock except for can and intake and if worked hard you'll be putting fuel in between 40-50. on a spring day you could run 80 and never put anything in.

Not what I wanted to hear. Anybody notice improvements after 500 miles or figure out ways to improve mileage?

Just bought an '09 M1000 153", used it for 3 days in spring condition snow and got 10MPG everyday...went 80 miles one day, put in exact 8 gallons of gas.

i should have said i get about 10 mpg on spring conditions. also i run a 174

I see 9 to 10 mpg consistently through varied conditions. 07 M1000 with pipe, head, can and 153 track. Flogged constantly!

Mod it, the mieage will get better (maybe) but if not at least you will have more power to follow that goof on the nytro around.

If you bought a M1000 for gas mileage ........... you bought the wrong sled !
I was out at about 30 miles Saturday - but there was 3 feet of deep to contend with !!
Trail riding I'll get around 60 miles. But what fun is that !!

My '08 M1000, no reflash and stock except a can, gets awesome fuel mileage. We haven't had much for powder this season, but I haven't burned more than 8 gallons all year. Rode hard and several 50 mile days. My buddy's '08 with the '09 reflash is a gas hog.

It is a gas hog forsure but conditions and riding style change the milage real quick if you like to hammer it.I would just carry gas so I could hammer it all the time!!!
