09 M1000 bogging issues

My dealer has a couple says they are for 07-08 M-1000. He's checking if it works on the 09. Dealer has been testing on the 2 strokes with good results. I should have more tomorrow.

IMO the infamous bog is related to pipe/intake design in conjunction with fuel pressures all over the board. I use twin pipes, a fuel pressure regulator, and a box and have no issues. The answer for the stock guys is the Power Commander. Stocker reflashes are BS because they still conform to all the Govt required crap.

Slp is having trouble tunning the PC V because in the 6-6200 rpm before the pv open the stock exhaust sensor creates its own map. So when you try to add fuel in this area the stock program keeps cutting fuel and with the full pipe mods it can cause a mess. until they figure out how to over ride it we can all dream. also the 2 stroke oil is known to wipe out O2 sensors. you can imagine how that would go. Get the PC 3 and you can always piggyback it with the bd box.

Fuel Pressure can be used for tunning but not needed. You have to understand the concept of adding and removing fuel along with a control box.

Clutching is huge, almost all my bog problems are from clutching. the biggest lately is from the motor mounts being ripped up and it lets the primary shift to quick then overshifts the secondary and binds not letting the primary catch back up. belt deflection can cause a bog. The helix makes a difference. everything does. A new belt can eliminate a bog more than you would think.

The oilers have been a huge problem in 09 when the made the oil pump work in forward and reverse. they tend to stick just a little. Mine ran a lot crisper with the oil delete.

This "might" help
Go into your bd box and reset your stats then try to get it to drop one cylinder, it should tell you the rpm and throttle position, it will give you a idea of where to start then reset the stats and try to get a bog and as soon as it bogs let off and it will give you the info for that as well.
If you can't get it tuned out thats when a Fuel pressure regulator can play a role, although I would not run it lower than 42psi, I prefer higher pressure, (better atomization) and then retune the box. Or just get the PC 3. It is tuned at 7 different throttle positions at every 250 rpm. My plan is to run the PC 3 and bd box just in case I need to do some on the go tuning.

Make sure your Power valves are adjusted right. throw in some new plugs.

It was clutching!!

I just took my sled to the local dealer for a once over prior to the season. I fought with the bog most of last year and thought fuel, but no matter what I set my Boondocker to, it would still bog.

When the mechanic went over my sled he found one of the MTX weights had come loose and shifted over in the primary. I haven't tried the sled yet this year (will on Saturday) but I'm guessing and hoping that is the problem solved.

After riding yesterday, it looks like the weight moved over in the primary was the problem. Sled ran awesome, pulled hard and had no bog!!

power commander

i run slp full set up with a power commander and it is awesome!!!!!!!! never touched it and i ride from 5500feet to 10000 feet. would strongly recommend it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 08 m1000 has slp exhaust RKT head, intake, and boondocker box. The midrange is brutal! and I never have to touch the box. I have an M6 that has had bog issues and it was solved with a boondocker box and some added fuel in the mid range- mid throttle setting. Let me know what your numbers are/ equipment and I can compare

every sled's different, a little...my 09 has a speedwerx y-pipe, stock pipe and aftermarket can, with big air intake, modified air box for more air....at 5000 rpms my settings are -2 -3 -2, and 6500 -1 -2 0....i have no bog at all, either before or after valve opening....no burndowns, and i use the 6000-6500 rpm area alot....i arrived at my fuel settings by deliberately adding too much fuel until it bogged and gagged, then leaned it out until it ran, watching egts all the time...after it ran clean, i checked plug readings and correlated that with egts....i tried the sw pipe and stock pipe back and forth several times and concluded the stock pipe just plain ran better....on the dyno, i only lost 1.2 hp on the top end, which i gladly sacrificed for the overall better running of the stock pipe...as i stated in another thread, not bashing sw, but these are the results of my setup....:D
finally got a minute to hang my bd box and high volume nose cone... noticed big high number differences on another post... our sleds are set up similar...not looking for the easy way out but wondered if I could get your numbers.

tks

still have a bog, comments on remedy!!!

Since my 1st post I have f _ _ _ed with the bd box a ton including having a couple bd reps messing with it still up and down like a bad girls underwear. The last 2 weeks i have broken/cracked the top all around where the pipe goes into the speedwerx can "apparently a recall", ordered a new MBRP can took my pipe off to install new can noticed a crack about 4" thinking mabey i leaned it out and it got real hot, but there was no indication of this on my egt's so i welded the crack put it all back together, went out last weekend in about 4-0' of fresh pow machine was falling on its face when it would get warm around 5000 to 6500 rpm, so i richened it up ran worse. Seemed like when i would shut it of and let it cool off start it smash it in deep pow do a big climb witout letting off it was fine soon as i would turn to come back down same old thing bog did it all day really pissed me off. So i decided to do a bunch more research before i dispose of it, and have seen alot of talk of the power commander.I talked to a fellow named Dustin @ SLP told him my frustration and this is what he said would most likely clean up my problem as he has corrected it on a number of 09 1000 already let me now your thoughts. Those of you that have 09 M1000 count yourselfs lucky because it is one pain in the ***.

maybe having a reflash to 2010 m1000 would be better. in the snowest mag is had an article about the new 2010 m1000 sno pro. they stated that cat upped the hp back to 2007 levels at 165 hp for 2010. only a 3 hp drop for '08 -'09. its in the january 2010 online magazine.

I ride an 09 m1000. RKT heads and porting, speedwerx pipe, super Q can BDX intake PC5. Climbs like a goat NO BOGS. My cousin rides an 09 m1000. SLP pipe and can, timbersled intake, PC3. runs hard NO BOGS. both sleds run added fuel at the top end (obviosly) But in order to not have the bog they both run negative (less than stock) fuel at valve opening, 6500 rpm. if your boondocker will adjust to say negative 5% fuel at throttle position 15% 20% 40% and 6250 6500 6750 rpm that bog will be gone. But watch the egts mine gets hot if I cruise at 6250 Mine is clutched to run at 7700 to 7800 WFO hope this helps

Even with the power commander mine was doing the same thing, start it make a climb then bog and die. I added 3 psi F/P, 8 points all the way across 3000 on the bd box and ran the full 10% at low on the pcIII. then it ran without a bog. I think it had to do with the fact I wasn't pulling above 7600 rpm. I think with the PC it is very important you are running the right rpm because its how the map was created. Since I got my rpm up I run a little more fuel on top and a tiny bit on bottom and it works(still testing some clutching though).

Thanks for all the posts, we are going to try a few things this weekend. Decided to try and fix it sell it and buy a 09-10 m1 turbo that has all the bugs worked out not sure if this a good decision but what the hell you only live once.
