09 D8, clutches shift while going down hill??

Hey guys, just sold my XP in Jan and picked up a Dragon 800 2009. First ride on it (used) and I'm concenered that when I'm going down STEEP hill using the brakes (of course) the clutches shift and the engine revs up and "engine brakes". Seemed allright but when I needed power/gas the engine would rev up even higher (like really high) and still no drive?? cracking the gas open/close and off/on brakes and then the clutches would finally shift back to normal with a loud CLANK! BAD when I need power to come over lips.

Primary is new and the 2nd was serviced and inspected. Any ideas? Mabye belt deflection??
Thanks guys! Still good sledding left!!!@!:face-icon-small-hap

Mine doesn't engine brake unless I consiously give it some throttle to engage the clutches. Otherwise it coasts down hills just like the old one's. You still should be able to overcome that by hammering the throttle if you need to jump a lip.

I think whats happening is your secondary gets caught in the reverse notch and won't let the secondary open. I was riding a 600 and an 800 earlier in the season that were doing the same thing you're talking about. It takes a couples slams on the brakes and gas to get things working normally. I would talk to your dealer and or Team and see if they have a fix for it. It's very dangerous and also very annoying.

thanks! I'm going to set the belt side clearance, and recheck the deflection for next ride. Only on steep down hills it would do this, and it really seemed like the 2nd to me, like you said may be caught in the reverse notches?

Could extra 2nd spring tension help??
