found this on dootalk and it doesn't sound like 60 mile per hr track speed to me ,it also doesn't sound like he added 2 grams by cutting the raves????
New Summit 146X this weekend at revy.
Day 1. Stock sled with Thing Can and sway bar removed.
Sled handling was assume witht he sway bar removed. I have always left them in and was surprised how well it handled on the trail. Boondocking was excellent. Rear shock has to much sag but seemed great down the trail to key stone but iut was pretty smooth.
Clear day at key stone. New clutching was not to far off in my opinion for the average rider. Most riders would find it acceptable. The hard core we are never happy and there is room for improvement. I found the r's drop when climbing about 400 rpm. I went all the way to clicker 5 and about 7800 was all that she would hold when you put a big load on it. Had a 41 MPH track speed on this day and condistions.
The snow got heavier as the week went on so a direct comparison is a little tough. Sled is super light. Left 75 to 100 lbs lighter then my 07 XRS. I would say the sled ran as good as my 07 with only 45 miles on it and no real tuning. Very happy with the package as it ussually takes me a month or 2 to get dialed in on my sled. At one point I thought the belt was toast but it looked ok and and the adjustment was good. Sled did seem to be over reving while boon docking and just cruising. 7000 RPM's when it should have been turning 4500. Helix would be my quess.
Day 2. Turbo Al did his thing over night on my sled. New clutch springs Prim and Sec, New ramps and 42 straight helix and added 3 grams of weight and he shaved the raves so they open quicker. Went up bolder for the day. Visisbility was bad but we were the first ones to drop
into the lakes for this year. Never seen the snow so low for this time of year. Snow was disfferent the yesterday- heavier but about the same amount of fresh in the untracked area. Clicker 1 was to low so went to 3 and the sled woke up. Saw 42MPH track speed in 3 but would only pull 7800 RPM. Went to 5 and it went 8100 but the sled started missing and popping between 6500 and 7500 RPMs. We did nots of boondocking as it hard to see and to many landmines for any big pulls. Sled started making clutch noises on the road on the way down to the truck.
Day 3. Top of belt delaminated after 60 Miles. Probably a result of day 1 with stock set up. Sled still had the 10 plugs in it and that was the
missing problem. If you have 10's go to 9's- 10's are too cold and people are having problems with them. Took. 1.5 grams out of the clutch and went to frisby. Late start and again visibility was poor and another sled had issues so it was a short day with not enough testing.
each day you can feel the motor getting stronger. Mine has not clicked over yet. You can tell the raves are kicking ion sooner with them being shaved. I went to clicker 3 and she would pull 8100 all day long. Track speed was hard to measure as there was soft and hard stuff on the hill. More testing needed but it is improved over stock and perfect for boondocking. The trail was brutal. I think my suspension worked is good or better then anything out there even the easy ride that was with us. Was a doo 1000 and I think the front fox airs were the issue. I went to race mode down the trail when a few old chassis XZ's tried to come by. Left them in the dust until the rear shock just gave up after under a minute of high speed mogals. My spring is on 5 and she jsut started to collapse and completely bottom out. I think the rears are a POS. Mine might be leaking as it seemed to be after unloading it from the dealer. Also the sag issue. Seems like to much and never seems to come back.
Overall great sled and very happy so far. 146 was stuck only once and did better then the 163 in the group. Happy with the shorty but i will still be looking for more track speed. Might try the sled with sway bar back in my I liked the feel and it was not the hassel i thought it would be on the trail. I like to run hard on the trail. Love how light the sled was. Was in a very tricky spot pinned in my some trees. Need to move the front end up hill and drop the back to get line through the trees and turn it back up a steep hill. Buddies asked if I needed help and said nope. Normally I would have needed some more muscle. Two easy tugs on the front end and slid up hills very easy. Way light!. Jumped back on and crawled between the tight trees and turned back up hill in the fresh. Love the light weight.
