09 800 goes down

The corporate machine at work

There is no fast easy fixes lately to issues when problems arise with sleds any more either. Someone earlier said if Skidoo can get there 800 to pass emissions why can't Polaris easily do it or do what Skidoo is doing. You will notice all the companys have totally different fuel systems and are sure to try and keep them different so they can't get sued by each other. Now days as soon as some new break thru is invented the 1st thing they have to do is get it protected or patented so the other company can't use it or parts of it or buy it from the other company or its rights.{one reason skidoo bought up omc for the ficht fuel injecton technology} The companies can't always just copy the way the other company did their fuel system even tho they know how it could probably easily be fixed and risk being sued.
Skidoo patented the electronic reverse and was the 1st to use it. In some trading over lawsuit issues they supposedly had with Polaris on someting else the granted Polaris rights to use it and Polaris only. If you don't think Cat would have loved to use this simple process as their customers were screamin for it they couldn't and had to go a different route and come up with their own version of a reverse system. Simmons sued and finally stopped Skidoo from copying its skis. Polaris way back in the RXL days get sued for copying the RXL fuel injection from a Colorado company that came to Polaris to buy it but they said no and then just copied it.
So that fix that looks so easy and obvious to fix may not be so quick to get done after all the hoops it may have to go thru because now days in this business world lawsuits are the norm.
