How in the bleep do you get the primary clutch apart, by this I mean 2 seperate the fixed side of the clutch from the opperating side. On my 06 you could just pull the two halves right appart, this one not so easy. I need to change pins and add some weight for lower elevation, but can not get the dam thing appart. Please help before I break some thing!!!!

P.S. I have now pulled the clutch from the motor but that did not help....:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I went through the same problems last night. The new clutches are a little tight untill you get some time on them to loosen and ware things in. Like summitboy said just thread in the puller and hit the puller to pop off the back of the clutch. It took some serious hits to get mine off. Then put puller or punch inside front half of clutch (from the back side) and tap lightly to slide out front of clutch.

I did not think it would work. I think I was mis under stood, I have the complete clutch off of the sled, I now need 2 take the clutch appart...from the 2 halves looking like this... l)(l to something like this l)- (l bad diagram I know but I hope it illustrates my point.

I am just worried about breaking something, I have a bad habbit of loosing my cool and wrecking stuff. So just to be sure here the two sides of the clutch are put together the same way they always have been these are just tight because they are new???

Hold the clutch where the belt rides in the sheaves, with the puller threaded in just like when you pulled it from the engine, hit the puller on the end and the sheaves will come apart.

Kind of hard to explain without a picture or something.

Problem solved....thanks for your help! Just needed a bigger hamer (2lb ballpeen)and some faith lol. FYI for those who might not know (like me), the 2 halves of the new doo clutches are not put together the same way as previous TRA's. The end of the "fixed" or PTO half of the clutch is not splined joint 2 the opperating side of the clutch like previous model tra's, it is a Pressure fit taperd shaft that the opperating side of the clutch slides over and is pressed on by the clutch to crank/pto bolt. I guess the old design was to easy to work on or something. Must have a need to sell more clutch pullers at $40+ dollars a poke??

I ended up threading the puller in from the front/opperating side of the clutch, and finaly broke down and got ot the big suff hamer wise and gave it one big wack...pop! End of story

P.S. If you really want a arm pulling, or to turn your head light into a spot light, in stall a set of solid pins in your 800r summit set the clickers at 4 and get to 850ft elevation and -10F and giver a rip...wow is it nasty

I always pulled mine off by threading the clutch puller bolt one inch into the clutch and then carefully dropping the clutch on a cement floor from about 1 foot making sure to drop the clutch straight down onto the end of the bolt. It popped off first time every time, no damage to clutch, just something else that works.
