08 xp riding up trailer issues???

I got an 08 xp end of last year to replace my 07. Anyway, I am having the same problem as my 2004. Basically the ski's or carbides hit my Triton trailer when trying to load and stop the sled. I Any ideas, I didn't have an issue on the 07. It's kind of annoying to get back from a long ride and have to shovel some snow on the back to the ramp to get the sled up or try an find two people to each grab a ski so I can make it up the ramp.

Anyway, it's not a big deal but I figured somebody else has the issue or a solution.

Thanks much.

Just add a piece of plywood and a few hinges like the enclosed trailers use.
Or apply a bit more throttle to jump the skis up onto the trailer.

Good luck!

My dad has a tilt bed triton. We put the paddle grabbers and the ski slides on it when we bought it. When we installed the ski slides, we left them long enough to hang off the back of the trailer about three inches or so. That way when the trailer is tilted, the ski slides just about touch the ground and the carbides don't catch the back of the trailer. Works excellente!! Be careful about gooosin the sled to keep the skis from catching...I have seen bad things happen when you take that approach.

same thing happened to me,so i went to a place that does the spray in bed liner and they had a few old bed liners laying around.i cut them into 10-12 inch strips and screw them on.problem solved...must of the places that do the spray in bed liner have a few laying aroud and will give them to you for free..quick,cheap,easy fix....

a cheap way around this is to get a plastic pickup bed liner and cut it into strips and put it on the trailer deck works very well and cheaper than super glides.

thanks for the advice, i have stock skis on the 08, funny thing was that my 07 didn't hang up on the trailer. anyway, i like the cheap fixes, that what I am looking for. On the 04 it was a problem and they ended up putting new carbides on the skis under warranty to fix the problem.

I've had the same problem with my tilt Triton. Part of the problem is because you need a bit of speed to get far enough up your deck for the track to grab your grippers.

I use a chunk of rope with large knots in it (for the track to grip) that I hook to the back of the trailer when loading. This way you can ease up to the trailer, making sure the skis don't hook (rock side to side if they do) and slowly drive up the deck.

This method works well when loading on ice or even concrete. You can even load the sleds in a trailer sitting in your shop with no truck attached.

That rope with knots idea is a good one. I just screwed down some old hifax onto the trailer for grip. I just would have never thought of the rope idea.

Carbides are really an ice issue but come on all sleds. You can find non-carbides in the sled catalogs for the Pilots (can't remember the company I got mine from). It eliminates hanging up in aluminum, steel and rocks. Like the old days. Goose

I took a grinder and ground the sharp edged off the carbide. Takes awhile but it will round it off. I did the front edge and back edge so its not so hard on the concrete in the garage.
