08 Dragon Fix kit

So I just bought a 2008 Dragon 800 with 2900 miles and found out the engine problems with this era sled after I bought it. My roommate informed me of the problems and I went to Kurt's Polaris here in Missoula and was quoted about$1400 for the parts and labor. My main question is, is this a reasonable price?

I have been doing some reading on here and it seems like people are quite pleased with the MTNTK fix kit and that is a lot cheaper price wise and more affordable for me

What are your thoughts?
 
There is so much information pertaining to your question. Try using the search. Mtnk has been the most proven kit out there as far longevity.

Get the fix kit from MTNTK, and install it yourself. it is super easy
 
These 600 engines have been Bullet proof pretty much since 2006 Fusions. What and who told you about these supposed engine problems with the 600s ?
 
I want to use the Bikeman performance longetivity kit. Anybody using these?

it's just a rip off of the mountain tech kit ,go with the original, I've installed the mtn tech kt into my friends dragon and it woke the sled up and reall worked great
 
Well mtncat I beg to differ. Wossner pistons are German pistons instead of the wisecos. And the mtntk kit uses arctic cat pistons with thicker skirts as their "special pistons"!! So honestly I will go with the German made piston, we all know the Germans make good stuff right?
 
Actually both kits are adaptations of an idea that has been used for decades. Difference as I know it are MTK was first out and has an excellent track record of working. Bikeman’s kit is a bit different as it uses cast piston’s whereas MTK is using forged. Cast is said to be easier on the warm-up requirements if that means anything to you. Bikemans pistons come pre-drilled with oil holes which may help with keeping calendar walls lubed but you can drill the wisecos as well. How Suzuki got into this discussion I’m still trying to figure out…….
 
Yep...MTNTK's fix kit hit the scene LONG before any of the other "let's jump on the band wagon" kits came out. This kit from Bikeman uses a forged Wossener piston. I do like the idea of their kit using the shim. It might turn out to be a great kit however, the Fix Kit has 5 seasons on it and the success of it cannot be debated.

The MTNTK Fix kit has an excellent reputation and was built and designed by Mountain riders and tech's. I've installed 10 kits now (Pro's and Dragon's) and all continue to provide better performance and better longevity.

I spoke with Shawn yesterday and MTNTK is now offering a PAR head with their kit AND is also offering a Porting package. He says this really wakes up the set-up. I would have to agree due to the fact that one of the fix kits I installed was teamed up with a Carls Cycle ported Monoblock.
 
I have never heard of an issue with a mtntk kit either and every guy i know with a polaris iq or pro has one. I have it in my sled as well.
 
I wasn't bad mouthing the kit, have one in mine and it rips! Runs like never before

One more thing - even taking in count price of MTNTK kit, you get rid of PCV - it`s economy!!!!!

But why get rid of it???? The fix kit does not fix the lean spot in the mid range correct???? Yes it fixes the piston slap but doesn't adjust the fuel curve at all. So why not run the fix kit with the PCV with a SLP map?
 
The fix kit does change the volume and that has somewhat of an effect on the lean spot. How do I know this? I had the same map on my ’09 pre fix and post fix. I can tell you I had to reduce the amount of fuel in the midrange on the post fix kit map because it was too rich.
