08 dodge 6.7 with the 68rfe the good the bad

I have a 07 2500 6.7L M/C with 45km on it and have the catalyst light come on once, but took it for a highway drive and it did its burn off. Love the truck,(I do work at a Dodge dealer)- but like everyone says a little hard on fuel.

I went from a 05 4-door 5.9 to 6.7 Mega cab. The difference is night and day. The 6-speed with exhaust brake is amazing.
More power than my 5.9, exhaust brake is awesome, 6 speed shifts like a tranny should when towing, mega cab speaks for itself
No problems yet with 6500 miles, 15 mpg in town, 11 while towing. Gut the DPF and egr and that'll go up.

Torque Monster

I bought a new 2008 3500 6.7 68RFE last August.
Fantastic rig, I tow every weekend with it - zero problems, I have about 5000miles on it.
As stated already the factory exhaust brake and the switchable geared auto 6 speed on the 68RFE is excellent to tow with.
Even with my 37" Toyos, the EB slows the truck right down coming down the pass.
Coming from a 1998 Dodge gasser I don't complain at all about the mileage, because the truck rips for a diesel...
Good Luck!

ttt

My buddy has a 08 6.7 that i keep maintenanced for him. He hauls cars for a living with it and was putting 20,000 miles a month on it for the first five months he has owned it which it now has 100,000 miles on it and the only repair it has needed was one of the speakers blew out. Pretty good considering he will tow 34,000 lbs with it pulling the steep stuff on I-5 with it going between 55-60mph stock. Wish the inside of the truck was nicer but the new body style is here now so hopefully it will come to the market in a mega cab dooooley....lb yeah right...

loose stool, what size and brand of lift is that, your pickup is the nicest looking dodge longbox i have seen and i am trying to decide what to do. thanks

Ok here's the results for a few of you who haven't heard or seen this kind of mpg. I figured it out for real or real world results and here it is:
1075 kms on 105 L = 10.238095 L/100kms
671.875 m on 26.25 gal = 25.595238 mpg
I drove the speed limit where ever I went with no load. I know someone will come on here and do the math differently and call me a lair, but who cares. Alot of people on this site think they know it all, just look at this thread. THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR FUEL ECONOMY. IF YOU DON'T BELEIVE ME, WHO CARES. FOR THE PERSON WHO STARTED THIS THREAD, THESE TRUCKS ARE AWESOME. YOU COULDN'T GO WRONG IN GETTING ONE, FOR WHATEVER JOB YOU HAVE FOR IT. BY THE WAY, MY OVERHEAD IS .5 MPG LOW.

wow that is good do you have anything done to the truck or is it stock.
thanks for the replys so far guys nice trucks.

Completely stock. The dealer did the update for ecm at 14,000kms, now there's 55,000kms. Can't complain. Good luck.:beer;:beer;:beer;

iamvector, 35's and 4" lift. dirtball08, I hope you didn't take it the wrong way, but I wasn't calling you a liar. I just stated you're a lucky man to get that kind of fuel economy. I fully accept that my lift and larger tires are going to affect fuel economy, but I was hoping it wouldn't be so drastic.

34,000 lbs. isn't that double what it's capable of pulling?? that truck must be a monster. I love the look of the mega cabs. If canada's warranty wasn't so screwed up, I would be driving a dodge right now. do love my duramax though. I think all of the big 3 have great looking trucks now, and you get good ones and bad trucks with all 3 brands.

Thanks Carl

Fabtech 6" performance lift
Dirt Logic Shocks & stabilizer
37x13.50x20 Toyo M/T
20x10 on 4.50 backspace Ultra Goliaths

Good luck on your build - I added the N-fab bars now & a few other things.

p.m. me if you need anymore info.

I've got an '07 6.7 6spd auto with 60,000 km on her now. I went with the H&S 5" delete kit as well as the EGR block off plates and an Edge with Attitude. The biggest thing I noticed with the delete kit is that my EGT's dropped by 300 'F, before empty on the highway it would be just under 1000 "f, now it runs just under 700 'F...like my '03 5.9...like they should. As for milleage goes it seems to be just as good as my '03, no complaints, if I got another one I'd do the delete right off the bat... the warranty thing is all about the dealer IMO.

nice truck like the color same as the one iam dealing on:D:beer;.where did you get your h&s kit from & how loud is it with the 5inch.
thanks for all the info so far guys.:beer;:beer;:beer;

Got it from NADP in Edmonton, if I remember it was around $1200 for the exhaust and EGR plates...not installed. The 5" is actually pretty quiet, you actually hear the turbo whistle more than the exhaust bark... sounds frickin wicked with on high idle with the exhasut brake on!:D
