08 crossfire 8ecu upgrade not done too late says dealer

I bought an 08 crossfire 8 with 200mi it was not ridden last year and is like new. I checked with the dealer and it was soposed to have the ecu exchanged but they say that time has lapsed and I would have to pay out
of pocket to get done. Is this a major concern or just ride and dont worry?

I read some more posts and if I have a white dot on the ecu its done.
Opened the hood and its got a white dot. The dealer said it needed doing
when I gave them the serial #. I dont no the history of the sled .Can anyone help or know bout this white dot stuff. Vince

The update was a reflash and a bunch of heat shields. If there was a specific time frame to get it done, I don't know. The update was supposed to help the fuel mapping and responsiveness of the engine. Some guys said it made a lot of difference and others said it did'nt run as good as before! I would try to PM freeagent and ask her about it.
