08/09 800 Dragon RMK owners please read

As far as aftermarket pipes working.... I'd put my money on SLP...

They have the tightest relationship with the factory and IMO, could be considered a "Satellite R&D" facility for Polaris in many ways.

Other shops just dont have that kind of connection to the factory changes..

All this IMO.

If there is a problem with the past SLP pipes... I'm sure SLP will let people know...

And don't think that SLP would be liable for any changes to your current parts because the factory is making a change to the stock sleds.
That would be like BullyDog being responsible for Cummins making a change in the stock engine.

slp single pipe setup with bad pto piston, 400 miles. Thinking about doing twins this year??? Not sure how the changes are going to efect it though.

Dan 09 800 with SLP twins with Carl's head work. No reeds just Carl's standard twin on the stocker setup plus their clutching. SLED just flat out RIPS and there is not comparison between this sled and a stocker with a SLP single and good clutching. 1200 miles and everything looked great at 900 when we tried a different compression head. Red Line oil since the day it was put together with 30% 110 sunaco to (yes 10% eth) maverick 91 and then 50% sunaco to maverick 91. Race gas is a bit more expensive and a little more work for most but we put up a large tank of both in the trailer and it's pretty easy to simply mix/fill at the parking lot. Not that big of a deal and way worth it for the results. I'm a happy twin pipe 800 owner.

rollin a 09 dragon with a slp pipe, hps can and carls clutching. kicks the **** outta a stock 08, only 800 polaris i have rode with. i love it, 4-500 miles and not a hitch of trouble other than what i have reaped apon it

I have a SLP single and have had good luck with it. I've struggled more with clutching these damm things than anything. I'm on the fence about going twins as well as I hear success stories from Rob over and over. I ran twins on both my previous sleds and loved them. Running a little race gas isn't that big of a deal to me.

i put over 1500 miles on every year i would hate to have to find race gas all the time even if you got it in bulk and had to carry it around

Bringing this back to the top, again the question is, how many are still running the stock pipe vrs aftermarket on their 800 Dragons.

SLP single for me....put it on at 250 miles the first year...now have over 2600 miles on it and it still runs great. Sled runs great now...seems stronger than ever..... I am a little concerned what it will do with the changes they are talking about on the recall if it will be better yet or make it crappy. I agree with Dragonstew....it took quite awhile to finally get the clutching as good as it is now.

My buddy and I bought 2 new 2009 d8 154s I installed all the vents reeds, slp single pipe and can, big air kit and run 1-2 gallons of t-111 race fuel in it when I fuel up. Mine is much more responsive and has a noticable more power. Not sure as to which of these helped the most but like most things if a budget restricts you to get the whole package then you should wait until you can afford the whole package. My friend is putting all of this on this year because he has seen the difference.:

Got th whole SLP system. Got the recall done and cant wait for snow. I brought mine home and pretty much installed the system so I cannot tell you the difference other than my sled runs awesome before the recall I just hope it still does. Good luck, put the whole system on, you wont be dissapointed.

What combination of parts are you refering to as the "whole system"?

leftover 09 D8 155. Full on Carls BB860. HoltzTI front A's, Fox Floats, Holtz rear rails and suspension, better boards, etc etc. please please please snow!

running 2- d8's w/ BMP pipe mod and BMP can not so sure that SLP might have been a better choice we'll see after some more clutching

currently back to stock pipe and Skinz can.

Tried the SLP single with SLP can and didnt see any difference below 6000ft. Went back to stock pipe and skinz can.

SLP pipe and can on my wifes 600 made a very noticable difference vs the minimal difference on the 800.

i run a slp pipe and a hps can... some say dont ..i even tried putting the stock pipe with the hps can..that only took 1 ride ..and the slp pipe went back on with the hps can.. now its clutching..i never ran the pipe with slp can.. i ordered the hps can and my dealer taked me into the slp pipe, after the tried it out in the shop..i love my set up it cost more but it`s the sound and power i was wanted..

08 d8 with SLP single pipe, can and air horn. I haven't done any clutching other than different wts. Because the motor keeps going out before I can determine what to change. Loose a couple hundred to 500 rpms in 200 to 600 miles so haven't figured out how to clutch around that. I didn't think I saw a big difference with the pipe but with the 4th new top end going on this next week maybe we can finally get a steady state system that I can start working with and see if I can get this thing to rip like it should. snowing in the mountains of north Idaho and western Montana right now.

..been running the slp single since it had 600 miles...it is well clutched ,geared,

when the clutching is dialed it does show noticable improvment in performance...

This was exactly my experience as well. Love this sled with the SLP setup, reeds, and proper clutching from Carls Cycle. Dont know how they do it....but it all works GREAT together!!

Cheers !
