07 D7... should I buy it or pass ?

I have a chance to pick up an 07 700Dragon with 1800 miles. Any imput on this sled would be appreciated... I have ridden this chassis and like it. I am leery of the 800 engine problems so the 7 seems like a better bet. let me know what you guys think... thanks... FC

Had that exact sled last year, sold it go a D8....wish I would have kept the D7. :face-icon-small-dis The D8 has been reliable, but it sucks always guessing if you're gonna get home. Peace of mind is priceless.....IMO

Will you accept a semi-biased opinion?

The 07 D7 RMK is one of the best sleds Polaris ever put out! Extremely dependable and lots of power for a 700, many dyno tests were reporting 140-143hp back in the 06/07 season. Will go almost everywhere and easy to toss around, but lacks some of the torque of an 800 for big climbs. The only required Polaris updates that come to mind was a re-flash in 07 and a chain case cover mod that included heat tape and a metal bracket that prevented the plastic from warping. If you pick it up, make sure you check the seal around the headlight assembly and windshield tabs to prevent snow injestion into the airbox. I would also recommend you replace the factory foam intake filters and add a few more filters to improve air intake. Also seal up the airbox drip hole located directly over the mag side exhaust valve spring (you will see rusty water splatter from the valve hole) and drill a new hole off to the side. Most people have also replaced the factory W/E air shocks, the 07's were mushy. Once again, it's not as big as an 800 but keeps up with them in most conditions and will get you back to enjoy another trouble free day.

Edit: If you have issues with the soft track and don't have the cash for a replacement, F-Bombs track mod is the ticket! Basically he cut off the nubs on the track and runs finish head screws into the lugs, countersinking them to make the paddles stiffer.

100% AGREE ! Just my 2cents to add.... is W/E love them just get them recharged up to new specs. Mine were 150 vs new spec 240 huge difference .
Next toss the track if you ride the mountains . The 07 track is not very good for deep pow days .
Gear it way down and get a 155 2.5 ce. Track
Get a slp pipe and can .
Now your little 700 will hange with or beat on 800's all day long...

My 08 700 163 is a ripper. Slp pipe Hps can CE track. Instant throttle responce. Love my m-8 but this sled is very quick. A d8 slayer really.

Straight rails and FTX drop & roll and now your over the top. Huge improvement.

You made an excellent choice, you will not be disappointed. I have had several polaris sleds and my 07D7 is me of my favorite. They rip out of the box. have a 08D8 but prefer to ride the D7 cause I know it will always take me back to the truck. Possibly the most underrated sled out there.....hard to beleive it's a 700. Biggest problem is getting the ear to ear smile off your face.....it starts hurting after several hours:face-icon-small-hap
