'07 800R longevity?

This is not a survey, just curious. There is a pile of talk on here of how the early 800R's went down with low miles, but there are a few you hear of that get a pile of trouble free miles. Wanted to know what some of you out there did or how they ran their early 800R's and had no trouble, and how many miles they got out of them. I've got 4,200 miles with factory top and bottom. I've only run ski doo mineral oil with the pump turned up quite a bit. I started having trouble for the first time last season and thought it was my turn to crater, but it turned out to be electronics. The only thing that has been done to the powerplant was to have the head milled before it had mile 1 on it.
As soon as I can scrape up a few $'s I plan on shipping it to Big John before snow flies, too many hard miles on it to chance it any longer. Thanks for info.

I've had my 07 800R for 3 season now. The only problem i have had with it was a bad piston. That happened to me right out of the gate at the beginning of the season though. I have around 3,000-3,500 miles on it. Hope it doesnt go capoooot! (knock on wood)!:face-icon-small-dis

I made it to 3,100. Crank seal leaking. Caught it before a three day trip. I was giving her a good look over and saw a pile of grease under the recoil. Lucky!

07 800r

My 07 XRS 151 was at 2100 miles when I sold it. Never a problem with the engine. But,,,the clutches were another issue.

I ended up with 5600 km before i took out a cylinder and center crank bearing.I too ran the mineral oil till about the 3000 km mark then just run the castrol,i highly doubt the oil was any reason for it but it was time...hell man it's a high revving 2 stroke that had serious abuse every ride out so i wasnt shocked or REAL dissapointed.

Like sledsrock said, rolling the dice, it's craps for a reason...roll a 7 and you're out much more than what the case mod runs...the only reason I bought my 07 xrs, was cause it had the updated xp motor...she sent out around 3k miles...the $1000 +/- is money well spent for the peace of mind is well worth it, to me anyways!

Just my .02

I had about 3,000 miles on mine before I lost MAG side at mid-range speed. I was riding Rabbit ears on our last day and running on the last 2 gallons in my tank. It was the only tank I didn't blend race fuel with the local gas. My guess why it went down was fuel quailty. Dropped it off to Sled Head Racing for Big Bore kit. Know more when big John tears it down this week.:face-icon-small-coo

My 07 made it 2000 mi. before taking out the pto side center bearing and sending pieces throughout the top end.

ALL 2007's...(with original cases) need the case updated, fresh updated/trued crank, 2 ring pistons and a balanced TRA...THIS will give you a 5000 mile combo and more "stock HP" than anything...BJ

2400 miles and very nervous every time I drop into a big bowl with only one way back out. If it survives this winter I'll be visiting Big John next summer. With a new machine on the way I think it's going to have a pretty easy winter.

Motor #1 = 560 miles = failed crank/spun bearing
Motor #2 = 1,600 miles (total on sled) = same issue
Motor #3 = sold the sled and its still running great with lots of miles. That's my luck tho!

Motor #2 was supposed to be the newer/updated motor, but I'm sure it was not. If it's the original motor, count on it blowing unless you're lucky!

I dont know abou that, i was worried about mine so i tore it down and my crank end play was fine and the bearings still looked new and it has 2500 HARD miles on it. But im not scared its time for a 860 kit and rktech head

Your just asking for trouble by not getting the case mod done to your motor:kev:
Besides that I don't know if anyone will hook you up with the parts for a big bore ona 07 if the case mod hasn't been done IMO .02
