07 600 SDI bogs in powder

I got this Summit in December when we had deep powder and it ran great for about 5 rides. Climbed great, no problems. Started missing a little, then got worse. Now it runs fine on trails or hard packed snow. But soon as I get into powder or anything soft it bogs, like the motor is cutting out. I can ride it pinned in powder and it's ok till I try to climb. But if I let off the throttle at all it immediately bogs. We've changed the plugs, belt and changed the clickers from 4 to 3. It tachs at about 8000. I don't know much about working on these, so don't know what to try and there isn't anyone close that works on them either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had a problem simular to this. It was moisture in the electrical, so we put di-electric sylicone in the main connections. This fixed my problem in the pow!!!

No it's not plugging up. I've checked that. I'm going to check all the electrical connections again. Maybe somethings getting moisture. A couple days ago it ran great in hard snow, but we're getting dumped on now! So I need it to RUN. Thanks.

Ya, Just pop the front hood up and you'll see I believe two L shaped black boots with pin connectors in them. Unlatch em and squirt them full of di-electric grease and carefully (don't bend the little pins over)snap back into original place. I did this right away when my sled was new and have not experienced any problems yet(850 miles and headin out to the snowies tonight so will probalby be over 1000 mile mark after this weekend)

I have a XRS 800 and mine was doing exact same thing.....after several trips to the dealer they finally found that it was clutch work that needed repairing(worn parts)...now my sled rips!! HOw many miles on your sled?

It has about 1200 miles on it. The previous owner didn't take if off trails. It was unscratched when I got it in December. (Not anymore!) The dealers around here (closest is about 60 miles) are idiots. One service dept. lady I talked to said 600s weren't made for powder or mountains and if I wanted to get off the trail I'd have to get a bigger sled. I told her I'd figure it out myself. This thing will keep up with the guys on their 800s.

The snow stopped here but we've got a couple new feet 60 miles north where we ride in spring, with new snow all week! Good snow year! We're in southern Idaho, good snow near Stanley, ID.

I will use the di-electric. Hopefully that does it. Thanks for all your ideas, I'll get it ripping again!

Your dealer is an idiot.....my wife has a 2004 summit 600(144 track) and she rips the powder.1200 miles on yours hey.... well you just might have some wear and tear on your clutch depending if any mods had been done to it prior to you getting it..You need to find another dealer or a buddy that knows alot about doos.Mine had just over 2k when mine starting acting up....same exact symptoms as yours:( Be careful with the di grease...the pins are pretty small and will break off quite easily(a buddy had it happen)!!

Yeah mine was great in powder till I started having problems. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't call it a Summit if it was meant to be a trail sled, but I guess I'm only sposed to ride it on trail. Hah. Not hardly. I found a little bit of moisture in those pins last night and put the grease in there. I'll test it today and see if that fixes it. I've read that the bushings wear out at 500 miles on these? I'll try to check them but that seems pretty short. Also, are there other updates I need to do to it? I'm pretty sure nothings been done to it as the previous owner never took it off the trail or did anything with it. I got it from a Polaris dealer, and no SkiDoo dealer close. I'll try to find a decent one. We have new pow so I'll be testing it out today! Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.

I have a '06 800, this fixed the bog I had in the powder. I recently went through a DIFFERENT problem, it would load up BAD, it would run on one cyclinder foul the plugs. So far I think we found a loose not even disconnected, DPM hose and changed out the relay, no problems since....fingers crossed!! Hubby is replacing my clutch spring, and bushings this week, I have over 2000 miles on them, and will be due for rings this summer. Skidoogirl, I sure hope that fixed your problem, when mine was doing it, I flat out would go over the bars on the bog......haha.

Heres my wifes 06 600 bone stock summit that I rode on a deepa$$ day while my turbo kit was going on. I knew it was gonna be deep and couldnt stay home.....so I rode it....amazing where this little sled would go. Heres a pic full pin goin 5mph:) but still going:)

Thanks guys! The moisture probem was it. Have been out every day and it's running pretty good. It's was only taching at 7800 when we got up to 9000 feet. We went down a little lower and it would only tach at 7900. When I had the clickers on 4 instead of 3 it was taching at 8400. So I've still got some issues. But we have great new powder and it wasn't bogging on me.
Here's a couple pics. About 30 mins from here we've still got over 10 feet of great snow- stoked to have my sled runnin better. We've been on powder for the last 3 days. We'll probably go up north tomorrow. It's so deep up there that there really aren't any trails yet.

My brother yesterday on my 600.

That is awesome, I am so glad it is fixed!!!! Mine on the last ride was not taching right, we just replaced the primary spring and rollers, so we will see if I get the rpms right now.

Yeah I'm thinking I'll have to do that next. It's great to not get thrown over the bars at any moment and actually be able to climb. I really like this sled though. Does pretty good most of the time.

Live2Ride, pay special attention to the bushing in the spring cap in the primary. If it is even slightly worn it will bind the spring on the shaft and cause the clutch to stick and lose rpms. If let go you will also have to replace the primary sliding half 'cause that bushing is NON rebuidable and that is a BIG OUCH. BTW, 417 ramps will hold r's better than the stock 415s.

the exact reason I raced Janet's REV and my XP stayed in the trailer.. spring cap bushing was TU and wrecked the spring :o(

Here's another question. Can I just get a rebuild kit for my clutch with all the bushings and such? I've talked my brother into workin on it, I don't know that much about it. And where can I get it? There isn't a skidoo dealer very close to me.

those bushing are a press in situation and you might wanna order 2 of each cause they're easy to mess up while pressing them in. ive seen it happen all too many times to experienced mechanics. send your primary to carls cycle and have them work on it. to completely rebuild a primary takes maybe 2 hrs on the worst day. the parts are way more expensive than the labor.
