07 600 RMK Problems

After warm up my sled runs great for the first couple of pulls up the hill. After that it seems to not want to backshift or atleast that is what it feels like. If I let it sit for 10 min or so it runs great again. I changed the spring in the secondary and cleaned my exhaust valves. That didnt help at all. New belt and still nothing. Used to hold 8100 to 8300 rpm all the time. Now it only hits that on the first small climb then it falls to 7600 all the way down to 6800. I am stumped. Any help would be appreciated.

Go through your clutches completely and clean everything, new bushings in the weights, inspect the weights themselves and also the rollers for wear, etc.

What next

So I went through the clutches and everything looks good there. It feels like something to do with the exhaust valves to me. I took off the hose from the exhaust valves to that little solenoid and plugged it off and there was no change. Then I unplugged the hose and it ran worse. I think I remember a post on here a while back about plugging that hose and putting in a different spring but I can't remember the specifics.

Did you find out what the problem was? I have had the exact same problems this winter and haven `t found out why yet.
Has about 2000 miles on the sled and engine is checked and okey.

check you oil pump. Mine went bad and it was acting like this.. Either your calibration is wrong or it might just be bad and need a new one.

i had a 07 600 an it would bog going down the trial or bog at stady speed or die climbing hills. we tried jetting it multipul times an i put brand new reeds in it an air box mod an sealed everything up good an a dealer looked over everything an said it was fine but never did get it fixed

Thanks for replies. Exhaust and elbows is good, the same is oil consumtion.
Have to try to change between a couple of belts then, and rebuild my clutches if that doesnt work.

I know this is an old thread but there are a couple things I can add with 07 600 carb'd motors and poor runnability:

1) Make sure the choke cable isn't adjusted to tight. Visually look at the plunger when you move the choke lever, there should be a little play in the cable before the plunger moves.

2) Intake vents plug with snow and chokes out the motor. Add fire n ice vents on the dash pod, instrument panel, and hood/windshield vents.

3) Very common are torn carb boots. Polaris has redesigned the boots and made them thicker. I've seen the later boots also wear. I'd highly rec'd replacing these boots if you have a couple seasons on them.

These are great sleds
