first i wanna say.. WICKED INFO on this site!!!

so i bought an 05 rmk 900 that with a blown engine. didn't do any research into the sled untill after, it was a on the spot decision, but the price was right, the crank turns about 3/4 of a turn with a good grind to it each way.. then stops.
its got 5400 km on it says seller, he said he put the 06 pistons into it 1500km ago,

so my questions are:

where do i find these after market engine mounts?
after 5000km and the crank hasn't sheared should i replace it?
where do i even send a clutch to get balanced?
im thinking bottom end bearing is gone. what eles should i check while in there?

any other things i should check or keep an eye out before tearing into this sled would be greatly appreciated. never rebuilt a sled but rebuilt quads and dirt bikes before.

Welcome to Snowest, congrats on the newly aquired sled! Go ahead and read all the stickies at the top, they have all the info you are looking for and more on how to Fix your sled and Make it last.

1. Send CompFusion a message for his front motor mount setup and use the rear mounts for a 2006 700/900. They have a stiffer durameter rubber. COMPFUSION's IMPROVED MOTOR MOUNTS FOR THE 900 IQ's - 2005 AND 2006 MODELS

2. If you are considering try to reuse your crank, tear it all apart and the crank hasn't been impacted, check the runout and see that it is within spec. If it is, thats a good start but chances are it is gonna be affected by the seizure.
I would highly recommend talking to IndyDan about his IndySpecialties Torquemaster Crank setup, it has different levels of awesomeness for practically everyones budget and is pretty much the standard on crank replacement/improvement. NEW!!!! Polaris 900 Torque Master 1

3&4. Indy Specialties is also where I would and did send my clutch when I needed things rebuilt. He does an amazing job and would be able to help you with all thinks Crank. He can tell you what to look for and recommend what to do as far as checking everything else.

The stickies will tell you everything else you need to know!

And again Welcome,
Ghost

thanks, the compfusion mounts its seems like its just a plate that keeps the rubber from expanding.... does he change out the bushings?

Yes

This would be a good time to let everyone know that the kit now features a new urethane puck set for long life and increased durability for the higher HP sleds. All new kits will come with the urethane parts.

Thanks Eric. I've been quite busy and gone on business trip for over a week but I'll get yours on the way shortly.

where is a good place to get parts online? that shipping isn't too bad as i live in canada and have to bring it across the border.. but I order all my parts online for my quads much much cheaper!!

You could ask CompFusion about that too, he is from up north and probably has a few different suggestions on good spending up north.

welcome to the 900 club and to the forum, youve come to the right place for sure..

good luck on your build, lots of info here and great guys that always wanna help out each other.

do you guys think i can reuse this cylinder, good side? AND are these to stock reeds for a 900?

in a pinch you could reuse the cylinder the crank case i wouldn't and the crank looks iffy. jmo

i ended up buying whole new engine almost.. cylinder x2, bigger crankshaft from polairs (includes new clutch, bigger pto, new belt(115), all bearings seals, con rods, base gaskets, wrist pin bearings, head gaskets), going with after market pistons, and ebay reed.

all said and done i bought its for 700 bucks
putting into it 2800
=3500CAD
i just seen a sled go for 5500 around here with 4000km
its in mint condition too... barley any scratches. used as a commuter sled

those weren't stock pistons those were the updated 06 pistons. if you are putting a new crank in save your self a headache and put new cases in too.

using the old cases with the new crank is asking for problems.

thanks, i bought new cases.. im worried about turbulence flow. what do you think of spi pistons.. mixed reviews between oem, wiesco and spi

Pistons were installed backwards.

Check the ring locators, they are on the wrong side. The pistons werte installed backwards and the ring hooked the exhaust port.

BANG !!! IT WAS OVER!!!!!!
