Few weekends ago I was riding in 3-4ft of Pow when my carbs froze up(Climbed to the top of a ridge and had lunch) Definately colder up there than in the trees we were playing in)
Now i was wiping the snow away on the intake(both stock intake and SLP intake) all day while in motion when I realized when I touched the pre-filter screen to swipe the snow away it actually let in a fair amount of moisture to go through the filter.
This is the main culprit I feel behind why my carbs froze up. And there wasn't enough warning to turn the heaters on as it simply wouldn't stay running for more than 30 seconds)
Has anyone ran another prefilter between the primary and secondary airboxes? There was no other moisture entering in the airbox any other way, I've rectified that problem.
I know it doesn't happen often, but I can count at least 12 deep snow days this winter and I simply don't want it to happen again. I have no rips or tears in the material, my primary filter(stock) was not letting in any snow around the sides or top either.
I've since began pounding the sidepanels to shake the snow off the SLP intake - while it works when still - not so much when WFO with over the hood pow.
