05 running temp?

Anyone know what the running temperature is on a 05 900 ? Our sled hits 170 with a rad delete, scratchers definitely bring the temp down but what is a safe temp . Thanks,tried a search and we dont have a manual.

120-130 degrees in good snow. These sleds, more than most, are suseptible to overheating, they like loose or deep set-up snow. Unless I'm checking RPM my guage is always on temp. setting.

Mine runs 120-135 normaly and I use my scratchers on the trails. Thermostat is 120 degrees and should not run cooler than that. I use a coolant enhancer sold by Napa to help with the cooling. Seems to work. My front radiator was eliminated about 1 week after the purchase and have never really had a problem with cooling. Sled has 3200 miles on it.

have you tried bleeding the air from the coolant?

you might have some air in the system and it will cause that..

get the front end up higher then the rear cooler and crack the bleed screw a few times when its warm and top off the coolant..

if yur running trails with scratchers...i dont see why it would go above 150 even in bad snow..drag the boots some it will help..

but try bleeding it first, and ride it..then report back..

do you add water to the coolant system or 50/50 mix (ideal)

The stock cooler is barley adequite. They do not like hot, too hot can cause scuffing to the pistons, thus shortening the life of the topend. mine run from 120 to 180+. Hard pack and scratchers down was'nt the problem mine came at low speeds, boondocking etc. Larger cooler is the answer. Cheap insurance is to premix 80 to 100 to one in the tank also, this will help the possibility of scuffing.

Thank's guys, it's my bro's sled. He always runs trails with the scratchers down but it still gets hot occasionally. He's gonna flush and bleed the system and we'll see what happens.
Thanks again !:beer;:beer;
