05 800 clutching and gearing

ive got an 05 800 and i put the 7 toooth avid drivers on it with the 162x2.5 just wondering what gearing you all using or if i need to change from 19/39. also what clutch set up is the best i am typically ridin 3000 to 6000, ive got the team secondary with a black spring and 58-42-36 helix and 10-60 with the almond red spring in the primary just wondering what set ups are out i dont think i am getting all the rpms that i can. i also pulled the power valves out and one of them has a tear in the bellow so that may be part of the problem to. i am open to any and all suggestions .. thanx erik

Replace that bellows and clean those valves for sure, the exhaust valve won't open all the way (or maybe not at all) if the bellows is torn. Any engine mods?

I run 10-60's with a Team bright green spring in the primary, Team black w/ purple stripe in the secondary but I can't remember my helix angles, I want to say 60/38 .36 ER but not sure on that. This is at 10-12k, SLP twins, no decompression holes in the cylinders, stock head, and I pull 8000 RPM (which is low for the pipes, looking for 8200).

If you're running all stock motor, looks like 7800 RPM is peak power (based on this: http://startinglineproducts.com/img/dyno/800VES_Twin_Pipe.gif ).

As far as gearing, I was just out on my 04' 800 yesterday, also running 7tooth extros but with a 174x2.5 track, and my gearing is 19/43. Very snappy, but if I were you I'd ride the sled with that 19/39 gearing before changing it as it might be better for track speed.

Take care of the bellows, try it out, then change things based on that.

no engine mods , it just seems to not hold the rpms which could have a lot to do with those bellows. i am gonna get new springs for both clutches and new bushings in the wieghts, fix those bellows and see what happens.

i probably wont be ridin for another month or so just tryin to do some pre season tunning but at the end of year last year i noticed it bein a little sluggish

Sounds like a good plan to me.
The temp sensor in the head can hinder RPMs too, if its on its way out or bad already.

I would go to a red/pink secondary spring, almond round primary spring and it should pull 10-62s at that altitude...possibly 64s. I would also go 19/41 gears.

19/42 works pretty well... the good ol slp blue/pink primary, mtx weights
