05 1000 blew up.

My buddies 05 1000 blew up and cracked the block. Can you put an 800 in these chassis? What else is all invovled in the swap.

Good question, but I don't see why anything would be the same. Kinda seems like the 1000 was in a class all to it's own. IMO

the chassis is rather different, you could do anything you want, but not an ideal situation... would just be a heavy 800 then.

what part of the "block" cracked..

Not sure its a guys i work with so i haven't seen it. He said a new block with the crank is $4000. So he was just wondering what his options were. I figured it would have been the same chassis as the 800s but its not? Also were could he maybe find a used motor for this thing?

He should part it out or search for a used engine. If he was close and the price was right I would buy it. Dootalk classifieds is the best place to sell used RT parts.

Where are you located? Plus he might have found a used motor we were just trying to figure out how much work it would be to put in an 800 because they are easier to find.

the bulkhead on the RT is about 2" longer then the normal rev bulkhead... and hte whole chassis is quite a bit heavier. IMO puttin an 800 would be a real pain... and then you just got a bulky 8.

as for the motor, if you cant find a good used one, most likely do what everyone else does and part it out. they are fun sleds but $$ to get back together if they puke.
