04 900 1M

OK...buddy has a 04 900 1M. He was driving it the other day and it started running like crap, popping and shutting down. Got it in the garage and noticed the power valves cables were off of the servo. Put them back on but still doing the same. Is the servo cycle when u start it or does it need higher rpms to cycle? It starts right up but after a couple minutes it startes to backfire and shut off. It sounds like its missing. Thanks

Well it flashes 6 times which is the servo motor. So does that mean the motor is bad?

Well we changed the servo out. But it still shown a servo fault. Sometimes when u give it gas it wont cycle. Shut it off and try it again but still wont. It pops and backfires. Tried a different regulator but still no luck. I hope someone has an idea of what to check next.

Have you pulled the cables off, and tried to pull them to see if the slides or cable are stuck. I had one completely stick last year and it ran ok, but didn't feel very strong. You might have to actually pull the slide out to verify. My cable wouldn't move at all. The servo should cycle right after you start the sled....I think within 10 seconds or so...

If it is a carb then the motor will cycle right after start up. If it is a EFI it doesnt cycle till 7000.
The carb will cycle once at start up and if it senses a problem then it will cycle 3 more times right away.
Check your stator next. Did you notice anything else not working? Does the tach still work? all the lights? When my stator went bad because of a grounded wire under the oil tank. My tach stopped working and I started getting the 6 flash error code.

All the lights still work along with the gauges. It only starts to run like crap hen it warms up. It misses and backfires like crazy. Thinking its the stator.

had a 580 ext did the same thing when warmed up, was a bad stator.

Also check to see that your coolant sensor wire hasn't come loose, or broke.

Well we just got it back from the dealer and they tested everything we did and it all checked out to be fine. We didn't replace the stator as they said that was fine and wasn't it. They also said they could not get it to run like **** at all. We took it off the trailer and it did it right away. Thinking a short? ECU? Any ideas? Thanks

I have an 04 600 that is doing the exact same thing and I haven't figured it out yet.
I got rid of the head light, tail light and guages so I don't know if anything electical is lacking power but I guess I'm down to the stator.

You probably already have but check the grounds. 1 that hooks to the bolts on the starter and one that bolts to the back toward the steering/air box top of the stator cover.
