03 ve 800 chaincase question?

Drain Plug

Mine is always a hex bolt drain plug. Do you mean you stripped it?

I would take the chaincase off by taking the exhaust off, remove the cover of the chaincase, take the chain and sprockets off, remove the brake, tie it up out of the way, remove the four bolts holding it to the tunnel, and it should just pull out towards you.

An while you have it off to drill out the plug (I used one of those left hand drill bolt removers and when it dug in it just snapped the offending plug right loose) put new chain case bearings and seals in.

Leave it in there. I always just pull the cover off. Easier to inspect and wash out.

X2... if it isn't leaking then just leave it there and pull the cover. Can be a little messy but not worth the hassle to try and pull the chain case and drill out the old bolt.

If it leaks, you can tip the sled up on its side and come in through the hole in the bellypan and drill the old one out for an easy out.

only problem is if it just unscrews its self and falls out when your riden its done ,if it truly is stuck ya leve it if you got your rty tighty and lfty loosy mixed up because its upside down then admit your error and fix it ..

no I didn't get it mixed up lol but it looks like it's been welded before and I barely put pressure on it and it came out. I will just leave it in and take cover off. I just got the sled so an inspection would be nice, thanks for advice guys.
