02 Summit 800 X tailight removal?

I have a 2002 Summit 800X. It has the big ugly tailight bar on the tunnel. Can I remove it and not screw anything up electrically? I have been told to just remove the 2 bolts in the seat trunk, lift the seat, and unplug the light. Is it that simple? Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Yes, it is that simple. Pull off the seat and start removing bolts. All of my riding partners have removed the plastic foot rest at the back as well as the "gas rack" and tail light. Simply unplug the light from under the seat and you are good to go. I quoted gas rack because that thing is useless as a gas rack. We all have aftermarket gas racks that will hold 3 gallons or more. That thing is brutal and doesn't serve any purpose!

Yup... that is what all of us run... some mounted on the seat but most mounted on the aftermarket gas rack... may I suggest "wildchild" on here... does makes nice racks for what ever size you need!
