02 RMK Mitsu turbo build

Its pretty simple. Look at the pictures. Nothings hidden. The only thing you can't see in my pictures is powerjets, and the BOV that I just ordered. Every sled is a bit different so most everything becomes custom. If you can't weld and fab its not going to be cheap.

If you are serious go to the performance section and read the 2 stroke carbed turbo thread from start to finish. If you don't understand something, ask. Then search for turbo and read every thread that pertains to turbo sleds. Ask lots of questions. Some people like to share, some don't. Some think they know what they are talking about and others really do. And lastly find someone that has a sled like yours thats turboed and pry every bit of info out of them you can.

First order would be deciding on what turbo to use. If you are buying new, I suggest a Garrett 2860RS or 2871 with a .86AR turbine for a 7-800cc.
Once you decide on a turbo, then its time to start fitting and planning. Try to plan out everything. It makes it easier when chit don't work and you have to change.

8psi boost, came on at 1/4 throttle 6500r's

Need some minor clutch tuning and jetting work to clean up the bottom end, otherwise its pretty wicked.

IF you think 8lbs is wicked... jump 2 more lbs to 10. It is amazing the 8-10-12-14 jumps how much 2lbs makes a differnce. the 10-12 and 12-14 jumps are very noticeable.

Thats a nice looking set up! sounds like its working out well. How is the fuel economy? (like it matters) Are you running any race fuel with that?

Yea thats what I have been told. I don't want to because I am afraid I won't turn it back down. Its a pretty lean year for me so I need to keep fuel prices down.

I will turn it up on the deep pow days though.

I haven't run it enough to find out the economy.

I have 100% Sunoco 110 in it now. Just to save me some tuning oops's. Will be dropping down to avgas.

If you can find a mitsubishi Evo3 used for less than $200 that doesn't need rebuilt, they work well. Really any Mitsubishi 16G will work. Otherwise Just compare the turbo maps to one of the garretts above. It should be in the 400HP category or its going to be too small. Remember these 2 strokes need a lot of flow, they are not like a 4 stroke.

Just buy my kit in the swap meet under turbos. It is for a genII 700 but with a little work it would be great on any 6,7 or 800 sled. It has the gear driven oil pump also so there is no worry of the electric one failing.

$1500 or best offer. I just want it out of my way at this point. I have my new turbo done and am tired of tripping over it. It is a complete kit. As you can see by the pictures it looks similiar to devilrmk's setup. These pictures were taken when it was still in the sled. It is out now and ready to ship.

all it says compressor housing is a/r .50 exhaust is a/r .63 is that what u mean cause thats all that it says

Too small.
You need something closer to .86AR exhaust side. Up in the .7's would work.
I think any of the t3's are too small, the super 60 might make it but they are hard to find and costly usually in comparison to the mitsu turbos.
I didn't catch what sled you have?

Then add a 1 before all the RPM's below that so they read 16000, 15500 13800 and 13000

Go down to the compressor maps and select garrett 2860RS. Now when you see a turbo you think might work for you, find it on there and compare it to the 2860.

This calculator isn't made for 2 stroke, but its close enough to do comparisons on turbo's

Nice build. The 16g is a great turbo for the 2.0 Mitsubishi cars/ DSM's. Good power, spool time is great. I saw your post on the 50 trim being too small though. Isn't the 50 trim bigger than the 16g? I have a 50 trim, 60 trim, and a 16g and the 16g is the smallest by far...

It may be physically smaller but going off the flow maps it is bigger. I could be misinterpretting something there too.

I don't know much about them. Just looked at the maps. I have been wrong before, wouldn't surprise me.
