Skidoo Freeride Track or Polaris 3.25 Series 9?

I've read every track thread on here, but by now I suspect more people have some time on the series 9. I had a 23 Boost Pro 165 and a 23 9R Khaos 165 both with Series 8. My wife has a 24 850 Pro 165 with Series 8. I just picked up a 2025 850 Khaos 155 and I don't want to run the 2.75 that came on it. I've looked at the 300lx and M770, but think I will go Skidoo Freeride track or a Series 9. I've heard and read that both of these tracks are really great at popping up on top of the snow, a trait I really like about the series 8. I don't want a trencher, and durability is definitely a consideration. Sled will be mainly stock besides maybe clutching and lightweight titanium muffler. Ride in interior BC. Thoughts?

300lx is just the unported freeride track. Not branded for doo. Saves you a few hundre bucks Works amazing.

Sxs testing on boosts and some na sleds in MT and revelstoke. 300 is Def best track on the market so far IMO. Pops out of the snow super efficiently and planes out building big ground speed. 3.25 gets sort of stuck trenching. It's much less exhausting riding a boost woth thr 300lx vs 3.25. The 3.25 always wants to come over backwards with low ground speed where thr 300 jumps out of thr snow on plan way easier and at lower speeds

Do you notice a difference with the absence of center porting on the 300 as far as snow evacuation and cooling? This was my main concern with the 300. In spring conditions we sometimes have difficulty keeping the sleds cool on the trail ride up, and that's running the 2024+ scratchers + Ski-Z ski scratchers.

I have the 325 and love it. It's like having a 165 without the extra length. It let's me go everywhere. On a 155 khaos boost haven't has issue trenching. Actually trenched more on my other sled with the 275. It just grabs and goes. Not so great on low snow, though what mountain track is? Never tried a 300LX.

I agree. You can also notice the weight compared to a 2.75. Feels like it's a track length longer when you're trying to get on edge or do other stuff like blip.

It's totally worth it though. Likes to be ridden fast and has tons of grip. Also works slow poking thru deep stuff.

I went with the 15" Doo track due to the porting and having half the track clips compared to the 300lx. I like it better than the 2.75, I haven't tried a 3.25 to compare that though. Our snow conditions vary pretty wildly sometimes, but it is usually somewhere in between the dry Colorado pow and the heavier PNW snow. The only snow I've been in where I think I prefer the 2.75, were days with a crust and 3-4 ft of sugar snow under it. In those specific snow conditions, I feel the 2.75 keeps you on top better.

Interesting.

I experienced the opposite comparing 155 300lx to 155 325.

325 gets on top and floats
300lx wheelies more and trenches more.

325 will spin the tiny bit to set into the hill.
300lx will drive forward when trying to set into the hill.

325 feels noticeably lighter handling and more nimble.

If you try they will both wheelie plenty.

What else is needed to go to a 300LX for a 9R? Drivers? I am so torn between the 3.25 and the 300LX

I put the Doo freeride track on for a couple reasons. First the freeride track is almost the same weight as the 2.75, so it's around 5-6 pounds lighter than the 3.25 polaris track. Also I like that there is a little more clearance between the track and the front heat exchanger.

This was also my experience must be the snow conditions on the particular days that gives people the exact opposite opinions

I can't compare the two but I have the series 9 3.25. I absolutely love it compared to my Series 8 2.75.

What do you like most about it? For example, when braaaping along in a slow sidehill do you feel it lifts and pops up on top of new snow with each stab of the throttle, then planes out level and drives forward, or does it tend to trench deep looking for traction? When riding slowly and you stab the throttle to set the sled on edge, does it spin the track and lay over, or does it get instant traction and violently lurch forward jerking your arms and "leaving you behind"? Does it make the handling feel lighter or heavier versus series 8? Only asking because I really prefer a track that lifts on top of fresh snow versus a track that trenches and wheelies, and I'm probably a few days from placing an order for a new track...

When I compare my 325 to the 275 I would say it does everything better. I don't notice the weight difference on my boost but it it just grabs the snow and goes. If you happen to start to trench you just braap out of it (most of the time). I've gotten out of situations that would have been instant stuck on the 275. On my 275 it was more of a flip of the coin whether you were going to go forward or dig down. Lol! One caveat to all of this. In low snow or especially icey spring snow the 325 is not my favorite track. This is for obvious reasons with the track lugs so damn tall. But in the deep and soft the 325 155 feels like a more nimble 165 275 to me.

So is the 300lx a bolt on for a 2024 9r. 9r is 3.25 pitch. I have a 2.75 on my 9r turbo and i.need more track. I was going to order the 3.25 but not sure now.

Yes it’s a direct fit. Just have to get the 15” and 3.5P version. Your sled has 2.75 track so it will be 3.5 pitch.

I have a boost and an 850 with 2.75, purchased a 9r with 3.25. I was a bit surprised, the difference wasn't all that noticable in about 10" of heavier new snow with solid base. I thought I would notice something more. Likely only have heavier snow till next year so I doubt I'll get to try it in deeper fluffier snow.

I have loved the 2.75, just wanted to try something different.
