Had my cam position sensor go out on mine. It would start up and run fine then just DIE. Start back up and run for like 2 mins then die, it is a recall tho so the fix is free, too bad my tow back to town cost my insurance $450 tho. If its having trouble starting, my 02 7.3l had a glow plug relay go out. Quick fix and only a $38 part at NAPA (dont go through stealership) Not sure if the 04s had the relay or the GPM (glow plug module) which is about $220. Gotta love the 7.3 just as a cost savings on maintenance parts over the new generation powerstrokes
the 7.3 were the gems of their time. no doubt. everybody and their dog had one. i'll bet i knew 25 differnt guys that had 7.3's. just about everyone of them now have something.
i'm not really familiar with the newer 6.4's. but from i've been hearing from some local guys here is that they get about 13mpg unloaded....... no thanks...isnt that what a an EFI big block gasser does?
