Product Review: Klim 2019 Lochsa

Published in the October 2018 Issue February 2019 Feature

Other features that stood out while riding were all the body vents. The new Lochsa has two vents in the chest and two in the back for torso airflow. It also has two vents on the upper arm, almost in the armpit, but a little forward. You actually get a better intake of air in that position we found. There are two more vents on the upper legs. Overall, the vents get the job done and allowed us to get the airflow we wanted when we wanted and close them off when we got chilly flying toward the mountain early in the morning.

The micro fleece collar is a nice addition, and we also like the new knee pads and zippered boot gaiters.

The Lochsa features a removal suspender system which is a nice touch. Although we’ve ridden in one-piece suits that have suspenders and ones that don’t. We prefer the suspenders, but realize some riders don't want it.

There’s more pockets on the new Lochsa, a welcome addition. But keep in mind, the new Lochsa is a heavier piece, both from the more durable Gore-Tex 3-Layer Pro Shell material and from the addition of all these cool features. The only feature of the original Lochsa we’ll miss is how the Stealth fabric stretched a little with your movements. But we’ll take the improved durability every day.

The Lochsa remains one of the highest-priced one-piece suits on the market—although not the highest-priced one. Our take? It’s worth every penny.
