Ski-Doo Freeride 165: Elite Level Snowmobile

Published in the February 2018 Issue August 2018 Feature Rhett Clark

What are some qualities that make up the ultimate mountain snowmobile? Some may say it’s the high-horsepower, fire-breathing motor. Some believe it’s the narrow bodywork and ski stance that allow you to maneuver through technical terrain while holding a sidehill on one ski.

Still others may claim you can have all the horsepower in the world but if you have an ill-handling chassis due to inept suspension components, you might as well take up snowshoeing and walk through the snow.

Of course there are other traits that riders seek to make their snowmobile handle and perform to their liking. Ski-Doo took all their bells and whistles and threw them at the 2018 Freeride 165. Combine the power of the 850 E-Tec motor, the newer Rev Gen 4 chassis, traction of a 165x3-inch track and premium KYB suspension and you have yourself the ultimate smile—and snowmobile.
