Winnipeg, MB – Adam Renheim made his way back to the Pro Open podium and Aki Pihlaja raced to three straight Pro Lite podiums, including a win on Sunday, as the Jimmy John’s team completed their best weekend of the season at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN.
Canterbury is always an important weekend as the season nears the halfway point and begins a series of back-to-back races across several states. For Renheim, a crucial change in suspension setup put him back in the attack mode that made him so successful in 2016.
“I’m feeling really confident now,” said Renheim. You know I was thinking so much about the suspension before on this triple and that triple that I wasn’t focusing on the whole track. Friday we were still making adjustments to the new setup but now I don’t have to worry about how what the sled is going to do and I can go out and feel good everywhere and just do the race.”
Pihlaja has dominated the Pro Lite class since coming to the U.S. this season. He won five of his six qualifying rounds during the weekend and raced smart in the main events, finishing second on Friday and Saturday and then took advantage of a quick start on Sunday to win his third final of the season.
He now holds a 36-point lead over second place as the tour moves to the tiny bullring of Deadwood, SD, in two weeks.
