Product Review: Fox Float 3 Evol Shocks

August 2016 Product Tests, Feature Steve Janes

Keeping your snowmobile front end attached to the snow is the key to having control over the direction you’re riding. When the skis are in the air, you’re basically riding a bull. All you can hope for is to stay aboard.

Fox has designed a set of front shocks for your sled that keeps your skis in position to absorb the bumps while controlling direction. The Fox Float 3 Evol QS3 shocks are signature designed by Chris Burandt to offer the best ride in backcountry snowmobiling.

Last season the editors of SnoWest put the Float 3 Evol shocks through the test on our Ski-Doo project sled. In backcountry riding, the shocks handled superbly.

The QS3 (quick switch 3 position) adjustment keeps things simple and practical. Depending on the terrain you can quickly set your ride to soft, medium or firm. An adjustable rebound setting allows your shocks to recover from the bigger hits quickly enough to deal with the smaller hits that tend to follow.

The Float 3 Evol features a carbon roost guard and Fox Ice Scraper Technology to protect the shocks. The high-flow velocity-sensitive damping is fully revalveable and rebuildable.

The shocks retail for $1,595 per pair. For more information, contact www.ridefox.com.
