Troy, Mich. – To showcase its products in the powersports market and demonstrate its in-depth, on-site technical support, Dayco, a leading engine products and drive systems supplier for the automotive, industrial and aftermarket industries, today announced it will serve as a Silver Sponsor for the upcoming Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt presented by Intact Insurance, Feb. 12-14, 2016, at the Yvon-Duhamel Circuit in Maricourt, Quebec, Canada. This is the second consecutive year Dayco has been a sponsor of this world-class event.
Adding to its historical snowmobile ice oval track racing and snocross competition that for decades has brought the best riders from Canada and the United States to Valcourt every February, the 34th running of the Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt will also include snowmobile drag racing, motocross and ATV racing and a snowmobile freestyle contest.
“The Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt is the only winter motorsport event in North America offering six unique types of race competitions over the course of one weekend,” said Brian Wheeler, corporate communications manager for Dayco. “This venue gives Dayco the ability to connect with users of our premium snowmobile and ATV belts and to provide technical expertise at the event.”
The first edition of the Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt, then known as the Festival International de la Motoneige, was held Feb. 11-13, 1983. Never before had so many snowmobile riders gathered at a location for a weekend of racing, and over the years, the Festival International de la Motoneige changed its name to the Grand Prix of Valcourt and today is known as the Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt. Snocross competitions were added to the original ice oval race program in 1999, followed by motocross ice oval racing in 2003. In 2010, ATV quad riders were invited to compete in Valcourt.
“Over the past 34 years, our partners, such as Dayco, have been important allies in the success of the Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt,” said Veronique Lizotte, event manager for the Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt. “Our sponsors, athletes and the local community are the lifeblood of this major motorsport event and enable our visitors to experience the thrills of this high intensity and top caliber event.”
More than 25,000 spectators and athletes are expected to attend the Grand Prix Ski-Doo of Valcourt. Tickets for the three-day event are on sale now and can be purchased online at grandprixvalcourt.com or by phone at 1-866-532-7543.
