STEP 6:
Once clean, carefully insert each bulb into the respective housing. Like halogen bulbs, you cannot touch the HID bulbs with your bare hand, and if you do you need to clean the bulb with alcohol to remove the oils left by your hand because these oils will shorten the bulb’s life. Line the bulb up with the three tabs, insert into housing, and compress the wire retainer so the bulb is clamped in place on the housing. When clamped in place, slip the bulb skirt on the rear of the housing to keep out moisture or contaminants. The headlight bulb should fit securely to the headlight shell and there should be no leaking.

With the light housings out, plug in the ballast connectors. The ballast plugs feature a rubber accordion gasket and a locking tab; once it clicks into place, you know it’s secure. Plug in the OEM plug from each bulb into the wiring harness, and reinstall the headlight housings onto the airbox. Once installed, start the sled and align the headlight beams on the garage doors about 20 feet away. The calibration of the HID bulb should be as close to OEM specs as possible.

Reinstall the bodywork to complete the project.
