Q:Why did Polaris drop the Pro X line of sleds for '05? I wouldn't go back to the Edge chassis, so with the Fusion only offering a 900 motor there's nothing in the lineup that I would buy. - AmSnow.com member Polarisprox1
Polaris engineers' answer: As with every new model progression, tough choices have to be made. We know several hardcore riders fully appreciated the attributes of the Pro X chassis, as did Polaris. However with the advent of the new IQ chassis and our new Cleanfire Injection Liberty engine, we felt the all-new Fusion filled this important performance segment.
One ride aboard the new Fusion and we think you'll quickly realize this sled doesn't feel like a traditional big bore sled. The smooth, linear power and IQ control arm suspension allows the new Fusion to carve trails and conquer ditch-lines better than many smaller displacement sleds.
In addition, based on input from dealers and consumers alike, we felt the need to simplify our line. The small volume Pro-X line was a logical choice to help facilitate this move.
Of course, the new Fusion, 900 RMK and the 900 Switchback, released in December, represent just the tip of the iceberg, as the new IQ platform represents the future of Polaris snowmobiles. Stay tuned!
