Yamaha Race Manager Greg Marier has the new Yamaha snocross crew including their pro racer Steve Taylor ready for action this weekend. The Duluth, Minn., race is the traditional kick-off of the snocross season, and this year Marier says Taylor is, "in the best shape of his life and determined to put himself on the podium early and often this season."
Unfortunately, the rider who was planned to take Yamaha to the top in the Semi-Pro Open ranks, Cory Davis, suffered a fractured collarbone in practice recently and won't be back until the second national snocross event in Canterbury, Minn., on January 11, 2008. In his place will be the Swedish National Snocross champion Johan Eriksson. Johan has been in the Polaris camp in the past, even qualifying to represent Polaris in the X-games last year, so it should be interesting to see how he makes the switch to driving for Yamaha.
Taking a que from their target market data no doubt, Yamaha will again be having the Yamaha Snocross Girls at their Yamaha Racing Communications Center (YRCC) at the event this weekend. Photo ops will be available with the Nytro Race Snowmobile too. There will also be Nytro demo rides held and plenty more festivities at this weekend's race.
