yamaha intros 4stroke watercraft

 
First it was a four-stroke motocrosser. Now it's the world's first four-stroke personal watercraft. But it's not just any four-stroke powerplant inside Yamaha's FX140. No, indeedy, Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A unveiled a PWC with the fire of its top line R1 bullet bike.

The R1-derived motor puts the FX140 on the leading edge of technology as this water toy delivers more power per cubic centimeter while consuming less fuel and fewer exhaust emissions than any current 2001 PWC.

According to Yamaha, the new FX140 watercraft already exceeds 2006 EPA exhaust emissions regulations and is said to be noticeably quieter than other PWCs. Yamaha claims it is 30% more fuel-efficient than two-stroke models and that technology employed in the FX140 can reduce operating costs by $1000 or more per year.

The new engine is said to have a broad powerband (think SXViper snowmobile) that makes it the best watercraft available for towing skiers and wakeboarders.
Slated to be built at Yamaha's manufacturing facility in Newnan, Georgia, the FX140 is a three-person recreational watercraft, capable of towing a water skier or wakeboarder.

Whiled erived from the R1 type motor, the official name for this jet boat's engine is " Yamaha MR-1 engine (Marine R1)" and is specially designed for personal watercraft. The MR-1 motor is a four-cylinder, dual overhead cam design with fuel injection and Yamaha's patented five-valve technology.

Dealers will get to officially see the new WaveRunner FX140 at a dealer showcase in August. The new watrercraft is scheduled to arrive at Yamaha's US dealerships in early '02
